MeistressBeoordeeld in Duitsland op 21 oktober 20182,0 van 5 sterren Too few photos! Her blog is 100 times better!
I bought her book to repay her for sharing recipes that are totally cool and good on her blog as I imagine that her book will have better content and more pictures. To my disappointment there are so few photos that I don't even know what some of the foods are. On her blog, there are great step by step photos and great pictures so you exactly know what you are going to make. Her books are just filled with words and that is all. Not satisfied with this book at all but will keep the book. Next time I will just make donations to her for her work on her blog.

Formaat: HardcoverGeverifieerde aankoopI have followed This Old Gal for years on Facebook, and decided to finally bite the bullet, since I got a new Instant Pot, and purchase this cookbook. I love the photos, and the detailed information on preparing her recipes. This lady knows her way around the kitchen, and has created some wonderful recipes, with good details of exactly how to prepare them in your multi-cooker. I love my Instant Pot, but she also gives advice on how to use the recipe in other multi-cookers. Best Cheesecake recipe! I love this hard cover book.

Formaat: HardcoverGeverifieerde aankoopI have had my Instant Pot for about a year and a half. Initially I joined all the Instant Pot/Pressure Cooker groups on Facebook. One thing I kept seeing over and over, was a reference to TOG. Everyone loves TOG. TOG method. TOG recipe. TOG Blog. TOG Community Group. WHAT?! So I figured out, after much investigation due to the many acronyms, that TOG= This Old Gal. I found her blog. It's wonderful. It gives background on recipes (talking points at dinner?) and great photos and step by step instructions. She is a very talented cook. She is able to work with very easy traditional and diverse recipes and hits on every segment of cooking. My first recipe was Hot and Sour Soup (pictured above) as it has long been a favorite soup of mine and I have always been terrified to try to make it. With her recipe - it was easy. And it was DELICIOUS! I'm sure local Chinese restaurants are not going to be happy to lose business, but I can make it in my Instant Pot!!! Don't be afraid of the title of a recipe . Look at the photo and ingredients- step out of your comfort zone. Your taste buds will love you for it. Your family will be excited to not have the same thing every Thursday night. I've seen a couple reviews saying its just too fancy, ingredients aren't in the pantry - maybe they should be! One of my favorite parts has been getting to visit my local Asian, Indian and Mexican markets and finding new and wonderful flavors. Someone complained about not having access to the author - Jill Selkowitz is extremely available. She is approachable and always willing to answer questions and is open to discussions. Someone said she couldn't take criticism, this too is not correct. Let's be clear, most authors aren't at your beck and call on Facebook. Jill will always return a message. (maybe not instantly, I imagine she does have a life.) This cookbook is her baby. Her creation. Imagine someone telling you your baby is ugly. What is your response? You just don't do that. You keep scrolling, you move on. What Jill doesn't do is get involved in the hatred and vitriol on FB. Pages not being numbers correctly or a typo is a publisher/editor issue, not the author. She will will answer questions, make suggestions, and has even helped convert recipes on occasion. With this cook book you get SO MUCH MORE. There is a tablet (Kindle) edition also available. There is a Blog at www.thisoldgal.com and a community that is excited to cook and share their experiences on FB at ThisOldGal.com Community Group. If you want a great addition to your cook book collection, really amazing *elevated* pressure cooker recipes and access to the whole TOG community - jump in! Buy her book, find her blog and FB community and have FUN cooking again! See you there! Have Fun TOG-ging with your Pressure Cooker!

BookwyrmBeoordeeld in de Verenigde Staten op 29 augustus 20185,0 van 5 sterren Inspiring, great all-around pressure cooker cookbook
Formaat: Kindle-editieGeverifieerde aankoopI came into This Old Gal's Pressure Cooker Cookbook not familiar with the “This Old Gal” website or any of Jill Selkowitz’s endeavors, but I’ll definitely be researching them now! This is an awesome cookbook with mouthwatering photos to whet your appetite. There are lots of helpful tips, recipes for many popular ethnic dishes along with traditional American standards. Reading through the various sections had me snatching up this cookbook in Kindle and in hardcover formats, as I can tell it is a keeper and will become a go-to cookbook in our house, useful for everyone from beginners to experienced cooks. While I’ve decades of cooking experience, I intend to use it for myself and also to help teach a young woman with autism how to cook. There are many recipes that will become family standards, from classical frittatas to international flavor favorites.
To give you an idea of what is in this cookbook, since it’s hard to judge from the sample, here’s some info on the various sections.

These are essential cooking tips, including one of the most helpful tips I ever got in my decades of cooking: hot pot, cold oil. I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from the publisher through NetGalley. My opinions are my own.

LKBeoordeeld in Canada op 30 september 20185,0 van 5 sterren This book is my go to for Instant Pot
Formaat: HardcoverGeverifieerde aankoopI pre-ordered last May and finally got my book a couple of weeks ago. I love that my favourite This Ol Gal recipes are collected in one handy container. There are all kinds of 'ordinary' recipes and a whole lot more 'interesting and 'intriguing' recipes. For example, there are 'Cuban', Vietnamese', 'Thai' and so on inspired recipes. I know, without having tried some of them yet, that they will be delicious to my Canadian palate. I was nervous about some of the ingredients such as 'fish sauce' but, through experience I have learned to trust Jill. If she says it adds to the flavour and doesn't taste 'fishy' or 'weird' then that's exactly what it does. The best part is that even if I choose not to put some of these things in or substitute other things, the recipe still tastes great. They are are easy and always work if you follow the instructions properly. I really like this book and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a variety of flavours and ethnic inspirations and who loves their Instant Pot or multi-cooker.
