Oh! And I meant to post this poem in my LJ entry today because I really did love it and it really touched me when cadhla sent it to me last night.
The living room's dark and the radio's silent, And nobody's coming to answer the phone; I wasn't expecting to find my friend absent, But I must admit that there's nobody home.
Where are the boots that should rest by the door, Or the backpack she'd have by her side? Where is the friend that I came looking for -- Has anyone seen her? Just where could she hide?
What are these tracks that I see leading southwards? What are these footprints I see close behind? Could there be some goal that she's seeking, some record That waits at whatever far haven she'll find?
Here is the answer -- a note on the doorstep, Answering why I must bid her farewell. I'm off for the road now, to follow her footsteps, For Allison's walking to far Rivendell.
