Walking Group Exchange Packages

Both going and coming.

Finally got Lalaith's package bundled up and into the mail to Ohio. Only 20 days 'til September 22nd so I sent it express post to make sure she gets it.

Here's what I ended up putting in the package:

- a handmade cross-stitched bookmark with the name "Lalaith" on it.
- a set of hand-beaded Elf leaf earrings.
- a printed digital photo of one of my favorite hiking trails in a leaf-bordered frame.
- a box of chocolate Kinder Eggs for her two daughters.
- an assortment of Canada/Toronto souvenirs: a t-shirt, a keychain/flashlight, a pen, a pin, a stained-glass maple leaf.

My "Walk to Rivendell" exchange gift arrived today. It came from fellow walker Emerlute, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. John picked it up for me at the post office. It's a long thin tube, almost as tall as I am. When I first saw it I thought it must be a poster, but it proved to be much heavier when I lifted it. Also it's weighted much heavier on one end than the other. A walking stick, perhaps? :) Some sort of banner?

It's a mystery that will wait to be solved on September 22.

First day of school went well today. I met the twenty-six rambunctious, enthusiastic Gr. 5 students I'll be spending the next ten months with. Very tired tonight, I'm sure I'll sleep well.

Exercise log: Heh, well, I did put in a mile walking to and from school, which takes me to 377 miles. Still 71 miles to Rivendell.
