CNE
Went off to the Canadian National Exhibition yesterday with my sister, Sheilagh, Debbie and our friends Lissa and Phil from England.
I had not planned to go on any rides at the park, but Deb had other ideas. She bought an unlimited rides pass and then managed to convince both Sheilagh and me to go on rides with Phil and Lissa, who had their own passes. I went on the ferris wheel, which, I guess, as rides go is pretty sedate. I was somewhat nervous at first (are all these bolts secure???), but once I got into it it was a cool way to see the entire park and out onto Lake Ontario. Deb went on her first roller coaster since childhood and surprised herself by enjoying it.

We ate way too much fairground food- beavertails, snowcones, Tiny Tom's doughnuts. Debbie and Lissa had henna bracelets put onto their wrists. Sheilagh and I won three stuffed ducks at a games booth (two of them are winging their way to twins Casey and Riley next week once Paul figures out a way to remove the plastic eyes).
Sheilagh, Debbie and I left the CNE around 6:30 to head back and meet Paul Kwinn at his hotel downtown. Paul was supposed to arrive in TO yesterday but the fates conspired against him so he arrived a day later. We headed off for a catch-up dinner at "The Pickle Barrel" before heading home for the evening.
Paul's coming up here to Richmond Hill to meet me for brunch this morning and then we're going to meet Debbie, Phil and Lissa at the subway to go hiking at some park up here in the northlands, probably the Kortright Centre. After that we're heading further north to Newmarket where Jodi is hosting a get-together for the many filkers who are arriving in town this week for WorldCon this weekend.
A special "hi" today for Beckett and Amanda, who are keeping each other and assorted kiddies company today down in Paul and Beck's place in Fremont (Amanda and little Zoe were surprise visitors on Beckett's doorstep after Paul left for TO yesterday :)). We miss you both terribly, but I'm so glad you're together to party and gossip! Hugs to you both.
Exercise log- Yay! I walked -8.5 miles- yesterday, taking me to 361.5 miles on my way through Middle-earth. I'm -finally- at The Great Bridge with less than 100 miles to the city of the Elves.
