A Busy Few Days (with even busier days to come!)
Moving into my last week of summer here, with school starting again a week from tomorrow.
Spent Saturday in downtown TO on computer alley (Spadina and College) picking up parts to put together a computer for my sister, Sheilagh. Also finished picking up the last of the gifts to put into Lalaith's "Walk to Rivendell" package to put in the mail early this week.
Sheilagh and my parents came to visit on Sunday, my parents seeing our new apartment for the first time. My parents brought us a traditional gift of wine, bread and salt to christian our new place. We sat and caught up while eating sandwiches, quiches, sausage rolls and pasta. My parents left around 6:30 and Sheilagh stayed the night. We settled in and watched the director's cut of "Almost Famous". I love that movie.
This morning Sheilagh and I walked over to my school to spend a few hours in my classroom getting things set up for next Tuesday. Sheilagh was -such- a tremendous help to me and we set up bulletin boards, hung posters and arranged desks in record time. I was especially grateful to get so much done as I'll be quite busy doing WorldCon-type stuff for the rest of the week.
In the early evening Sheilagh and I headed back downtown to meet Debbie and Lissa and Phil for dinner. It's the first time I've seen Phil and Lissa since they arrived from England, so that was great fun. Lissa gave me a gorgeous pair of iridescent beaded earrings that I just love. Paul Kwinn was supposed to arrive in TO from California tonight, but sadly, due to a mix-up, he forgot his passport at home, missed his flight, and won't arrive in TO now until tomorrow night.
After hitting the World's Biggest Bookstore and buying the latest Doonesbury anthology I headed north for home.
Tomorrow I'll be heading downtown to hook up with Debbie, Sheilagh, Lissa and Phil again for lunch and later plans may include the Canadian National Exhibition and an evening visit with Paul. Plans are still slightly up in the air due to Paul's unexpected non-arrival :).
Wednesday plans include going hiking with Lissa, Phil, Deb and Paul in the afternoon and an evening filk social at Jodi's place in Newmarket. Thursday morning I have school staff meetings scheduled and then I head downtown Thursday evening for the duration of the World Science Fiction Convention. Well, until Sunday night, anyway. Monday I have to be home to prepare for the first day of school on Tuesday. Laundry and much sleep will be in order after four days of WorldCon.
Exercise log- My walking schedule will be the definite casualty of this busy week. Only 1 mile of walking today taking me up to 353 miles on the road.
