American Splendor
Has anybody seen this movie yet? I really, really, really want to see it, but it's only playing in one small artsy theatre in downtown Toronto and I haven't had time to get out there. I'm really intrigued by all the articles I've been reading about it. I'm hoping it will end up in some more theatres in the next few weeks.
Anyone out there ever read the graphic novels the movie is based on? I'd never heard of them until the movie critics started to rave about this movie. I just read the guy the movie and comics are based on used to be a semi-regular on the David Letterman Show until he became too much and Letterman essentially fired him.
Speaking of talk shows, I watched Jay Leno for the first time in ages last night. I don't tend to care for Leno, but his guest was Johnny Depp, so, hey, I can put up with Leno for a night. I was highly amused when Johnny Depp came out. For a guy who is right up there with the best-lookin' actors in movies today he always comes out in public looking as disheveled as he possibly can. It's like some personal statement, "Judge me on my -art-, not my looks.". Yeah, Johnny. Tell that to all of us who saw you on the cover of GQ last month. Looks and talent- works for me.
I will not admit how many times I've seen "Pirates of The Caribbean" now, except to say that the only movie I've seen more this year in the theatre was "The Two Towers". But, hey, people I knew kept wanting to go see it and it's not like there much -else- to see in the theatre this month. Yeah, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.
Hmmm, got side-tracked. Anyway, waiting for Debbie and Jodi to show up for an Urban Tapestry practice. Last time we attempted to do this the entire North-eastern coast went dark, so I hope we have more luck tonight. We're getting -really- close to WorldCon and this will be the last serious practice night that we will have. Being we have a concert, a children's concert, a couple of performance circles and a folk jam to prepare for, we better make the best use of our time. There will be lots of singing tonight. Better go find my guitar tuner.
Exercise log- I haven't been walking much. Isn't that awful? I'm at 348 miles- 110 to go, 2 to my next reward shield. Must get back on track this weekend.
