Painting The Living Room and a QUESTION

Three and a half years back we walked into our townhouse for the first time and said, "We love it, we must have it, but the yellow walls in the living room and dining room have to go.".

And then as a result of one reason or another we looked at those yellow walls for three and a half years.

Until this weekend when we finally looked at each other and decided this was the week to finally get those walls painted. We had decided on our paint colour a good year ago, so with paint chip in hand we went off to buy paint, rollers, drop cloth, brushes.

True confessions: This is the first time I have ever painted a room. John has worked as a painter in the past so luckily he had a lot more experience than me! Still I did a bunch of painting, too, though I left the fiddily edges to him.

We painted most of the walls a soft white with a touch of pale grey and then a slightly darker pale grey called "Silver Screen" on a few accent walls. I especially love the soft grey against the white trim on our windows- very calming.

It took us forever to get around to it, but it was worth it.

Now I want to think about some groupings of needlework/photos for above the couch and in the dining room, too. Found an awesome iPad app called "Wall of Memories". It gives you a virtual wall of your choice of colour and then you can design picture frames to arrange on the wall with your choice of several frames and mats. The coolest thing is that you can then add your own photos to the frames to get an idea of how your wall display would look. I grabbed a bunch of my needlework photos of pieces I would consider framing and hanging up and I've started playing with the app. Nifty.

QUESTION:
What do you have hanging on the walls of your living room right now?
