Gift Exchange Ideas?
As a fun and bonding activity, my "Walk to Rivendell" walking group has decided to have a gift exchange on September 22. Yeah, ten points to the fanatics out there who know the obvious reason why we chose that date for our gift exchange :).
There's eleven of us involved in the exchange from four countries (Canada, the US, England, Poland) and as the person running the exchange I threw all our names in a hat, matched us together and then sent out addresses to all involved so they know where they are sending their gift. The aim is to have the gift arrive at the person's house before September 22 so we can all open our gifts on that day and celebrate together in the "Walk to Rivendell" message board. My package will be heading to a fellow walker in Ohio.
We wanted to keep the exchange inexpensive so we set a $25 (in whatever currency) suggestion on the gift. So the challenge is to come up with a unique and fun package without going far over budget. Among the suggestions for the gift included:
a) Souvenirs from where you live.
b) Items involving walking, hiking, nature.
c) Items that are Tolkienesque, fantasy, etc..
d) Whatever else you come up with.
I'd like to come up with a whole bunch of small fun gifts using those themes to throw into my Ohio gift package. I also know my package receiver has two young daughters, and, besides walking and Tolkien, also likes Ren Faires, Anne of Green Gables, photography, camping (Gee, do you think she and I might get along? She even has red hair :).)
Any ideas out there as to cool inexpensive items I could put in her package? I'm game for making stuff, too. I'm starting to search for items myself and I hope to have the package in the mail within a couple of weeks.
