Star Wars and a QUESTION
So, John and I watched "Return of The Jedi" last night while I worked on my Tolkien-inspired Gates of Moria cross-stitch and he worked on his Nautilus "20000 Leagues Under the Sea" model. Geeks doing what geeks do.
We tend to pull out the Star Wars series about once a year and watch it through. We usually watch it one movie a weekend, so it takes us six weeks to get through the saga. Of course, I'm of a generation who prefers the original trilogy to the three prequel movies (Qui-Gon Jinn is pretty much their only saving grace for me :)), but John still insists we do it right and watch through all six movies in a row, so I indulge him. And last night we got to the sixth movie so it will likely be another year before we pull them off the shelf again. We don't plan to go see the original trilogy in 3-D when they come out later this year because I'm really tired of watching Lucas mess around with cornerstone movies of my youth. Really, George, leave them alone. If you want to make a 3-D movie with ground-breaking special effects make something new. Please.
Anyway, some nostalgic questions for the day:
How old were you when you first saw "Star Wars: A New Hope"? Did you see it in the theatre? At home? On video or DVD? What did you think of it that first time? (or for that matter, what do you think of it now?)
Do you plan to go out to the theatre and see "Star Wars" in 3-D when it comes out later this year?
