Meals and Movies and lots of Fabric
Spent the day hanging out with Donna Maloney in downtown TO today. She's in town from Buffalo for the big "Toronto Rocks" festival tomorrow and even though she hasn't been able to talk me into going to the rock fest (I'm staying snugly at home in Richmond Hill to watch it on TV) I'm going to hang out with her today and Thursday.
My pedometer tells me we walked 7 miles today doing TO-type stuff. We went to eat sushi for lunch and then rambled down Queen St. checking out the comic and fabric shops. We decided to go see "Pirates of the Caribbean" again, her to get costuming ideas for DragonCon at the end of the month, and both of us to check out Johnny Depp again, of course.
Had to be amused, a third of the way into the movie Donna asked me for a pen and she spent the rest of the movie madly scribbling notes in the dark. Soon as the lights came up she said, "We have to go back to King's Textiles!". Ah, the life of a media costumer. Seems Donna had decided that two young friends who will be going to DragonCon with her will be taking new costumes with them. She happily spent the next half hour in the fabric shop picking fabrics to dress them up as Will Turner and Elizabeth from the movie. Whitney will look amazing in the cranberry red silk Donna bought today for her new dress.
We went for dinner at the Queen of Sheba, a wonderful Ethiopian restaurant on Bloor and then we went back to the Sheridan Hotel to meet friends Trish and Tracy, who are brave enough to go to the "Toronto Rocks" festival with Donna tomorrow. As I left to come home they had ordered wine and cheese and were settling in to watch "The Two Towers" on pay-TV.
It is a night of anticipation here in Toronto. The Rolling Stones are here, as are many other classic rock bands, and 430,000 people will be descending on a field in Downsview tomorrow morning. They say it will be the biggest rock concert on the continent this year and the biggest rock concert in Toronto ever.
But more about Toronto's festival frenzy tomorrow.
Exercise log- Walked 7 miles today putting me at 296 miles towards Rivendell. Yay, I will reach 300 miles by the end of the month.
