WETA Keychain!

WETA Keychain

Her down-under slideshow was a mix of still photos and video clips and the two of them went to an incredible number of very cool places. They spent most of the time in Australia, but hopped over to New Zealand for a couple of days. They weren't able to fly into the city they were going to (I forget which one) because it was snowed in, being winter down there and all. As a result they were shuffled over to Wellington, instead. Since they hadn't planned to go to Wellington they had to get on-line to discover things to do while in Wellington and they discovered Wellington is the home of WETA Studios, famous for its work on the "Lord of the Rings" movies, as well as Narnia, Avatar and new versions of King Kong, Planet of The Apes, etc.. And, of course, right now they are working on "The Hobbit"!

One of their favorite movies is "Avatar", which made the WETA museum "must see", but Marie is also well aware of my avid passion for all things Tolkien and the Rings movies, so she had already promised me a postcard from New Zealand before she left in June. She hadn't expected to get to the WETA studios, though, before they got diverted there during their trip.

So they decided I needed to visit the WETA Cave, too :).

So, they found a photo of me on-line and called it up on Marie's iPad so that everywhere they went in Wellington and the WETA studios they had video clips where they would hold up the iPad with my photo and say things like, "And here's Allison getting on the bus for the WETA Cave." and "Here's Allison under the sign at the WETA Cave!", etc.. :) The WETA Cave is the museum, exhibit, giftshop were people can go and see exhibits about the work WETA has done on assorted movies.

They even had a photo of me sitting in front of a Wellington theatre waiting for "The Hobbit" :). Because Marie is aware of Deb's Waiting For Frodo website :). And a video clip of me trying to sneak into the actual WETA workshops to see the work on "The Hobbit", but not actually getting in.

I was pretty amused by it all.

And at the end of the video segment she ran off into the other room and brought me back a
WETA keychain that she had brought me from the WETA Cave. Awesome! So now, as you can see from the photo, I've added my WETA keychain to the Rings keychain I'd already been carrying for the last ten years or so.

But I loved my vitual visit to WETA World!!
