Guest Sign Wall

I stayed up north near Lake Rosseau at a teacher friend's cottage earlier in the week and when you walk through the front door this is what you see- a whole front lobby covered with small wooden signs with the names of all the family and friends who have visited her and her husband since they built the cottage. Marie has a tradition that everyone who visits their cottage new has to paint a name sign for the wall. Then she takes their photo holding their sign and she puts the collages of photos on the front lobby wall, too. I thought it was a really great idea.





So on a very rainy Wednesday morning Marie set me up and I got working on my own cottage sign while she made pancakes.



And here's my finished sign. I'm satisfied with the lettering, but my trees turned out kinda misshapen. The music notes were a given, as she wanted us to paint something that represented us, but the sun and small boat on the side are pure wish fullfillment because, as I said, it was pouring rain, but we really wanted to go out in the motorboat to tour Lake Rosseau. So I wanted sun and nice boating weather (and we did eventually get that, too- yay).



And here I am standing on the back deck with my finished sign. Marie was taking a photo of me to add to the collages in the hallway along with my sign, so I had her take a photo with my camera, too.
