Listens: Down By the Water- The Decemberists

Just Stuff

Wow, haven't journaled in awhile, but sometimes I sit down and nothing really comes to me at all. I guess February in the middle of winter isn't the most inspiring time for activity or thought. At least not for me.

Let's see what I've been up to...

- Took my class to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto on Friday, along with my new student teacher. They have terrific class/lab/tour packages geared to units in the Ontario Curriculum. We did their Rocks and Minerals program, both a tour through the Museum's rocks and gems exhibit and a classroom session where the students could get a closer look at rocks and do some experiments. My student teacher has been teaching the class the Gr. 4 rocks and minerals unit for the last two weeks, so she was very pleased and proud when the kids were able to answer so many questions in the classroom session :). The kids loved it- over half of them had never been to the museum before. Besides the rocks exhibit most of the kids also got a chance to see the batcave, the dinosaur display, the Egyptian display (they wanted to see mummies) and the animal exhibits.

- Yay, "The Amazing Race" has started again, which is the one reality series I've always been faithfully hooked on. True confessions, though, I'm also watching "American Idol" again, and I'm highly entertained by Steven Tyler. I thought it was interesting to read that song sales for Aerosmith have increased by 250% since he started with AI!

- Looking forward to FilKONtario in just over a month. Everybody should be there!

- Family Day tomorrow equals long weekend. Yay.

- looks like Banff is still at the top of our "where to go to sitesee and hike this summer" list. Being that we're probably going fly in by way of Edmonton, I was researching the West Edmonton Mall today. As both John and I surmised it's just... a really big mall. There's amusement rides there and kiddie activities, etc., but we probably won't spend long there. Still my research suggests to me that it's in-between the Edmonton airport and Highway 16, which leads from Edmonton to our next destination of Jasper, so the Mall seems a likely visit.

- Read about some of the hiking around the town of Banff today. Was impressed with that.

- John and I would like it to stop snowing here so it will warm up and we can go hiking around here again. One month 'til Spring.

- We did get a thaw here earlier in the week, which was happy for everyone except our pet backyard squirrel, Rusty. All his snow tunnels melted away, which was sad. 'Tis the life of a squirrel.

- Haven't gotten to the Tim Burton Exhibit in downtown Toronto yet. Must do that during my March Break.

- Still using the Wii "Just Dance" five or six times a week. Still like it a lot.

Wow, this post is scattered. But it's written.
