ConCertino Prep

Thanks to those folks who blasted my nasty nature e-mail person :). Turns out my mistake in writing that the Elora Gorge was on the Credit River instead of the Grand River was more honest that I thought.

When I mentioned the letter to John this morning his first remark was, "We did going walking on the Credit River that day.". We had gone looking for the Elora Trail, which is some 40 km. long and went hiking in two places on opposite ends of the trail. Sure enough, one of the walks was on the Credit River (at The Forks of the Credit Provincial Park) and one of the walks was on the Grand River (in Elora). I just forgot to change my rivers halfway through my report :). Actually, I know the Grand River quite well, having grown up steps away from it in Dunnville, from the ages of 7 to 13.

Today I don't get to walk anywhere quite so quiet and relaxed as a river trail. Instead, I'm going to head into downtown Toronto and hike along Yonge St., instead. The joys of walking along Yonge St. could be a whole entry in itself, to be saved for another day. I'm going to subway down to Bloor St. and then walk south on Yonge St. until I get to Deb's apartment to put in some Rivendell miles (only 7 miles until my next shield). Jodi, Deb and I are getting together at 3:00 to do some last minute preparation for ConCertino, the filk music convention we're attending in Massachusetts this weekend.

First thing we're going to do is walk from Deb's place over to St. Lawrence Market (http://www.stlawrencemarket.com/). Deb has spoken about the market in glowing terms in her on-line journal (like here: http://www.electricpenguin.com/blatherings/archives/001942.html) and I'm curious to have her tour us around the market. No doubt we'll catch a bite to eat somewhere along the road, too.

Once we get back to Deb's place we're going iron transfers of our new CD cover by Beckett Gladney onto t-shirts to wear at our 10th anniversary party at ConCertino. I also have to go through boxes of Deb's old Urban Tapestry photos to complete the photo collages I've been working on to hang up at that party. Lastly, we have to go through the music for our children's concert and the performer circle that we will be hosting at the con. The theme of our performer circle is filk tribute to other people's music and we will be singing "Bring Me A Star" by Cynthia McQuillan, "Unforgotten" by Lawrence Dean, "The Alien Jellyfish Song" by Chris Conway and "The Dark Is Rising" by Julia Ecklar.

And Jodi is going to lend me the first volume of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" so I can see if the book is better than the movie. Yay. I know what I'll be doing later tonight.

Only four days before we fly out to the con! I'm getting excited!
