The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...

... has a great premise and promising characters, but somewhere along the way they forgot that a movie needs a plot and a script. I swear, the second-half of the movie had -no- story at all. If you like fight scenes and explosions, you're in luck, but if you're looking for any sense of coherence or logic or any sympathy for these characters at all based on background and dialogue, well, I surely didn't find it.

All in all, you're better off going to see "Pirates of The Caribbean". It's a heck of a lot more fun, with a lot more sparkle and wit, and they know we know they're simply making an entertaining summertime popcorn movie.

I do find myself coming away from "League" wanting to read Alan Moore's original graphic novel. I sense there is a potential in the premise that the movie didn't even attempt to explore. Knowing the novel is a classic of its kind and having read other graphic novels of Moore's, I suspect the book is far superior to the movie.

Sigh, it sure makes me hope they never decide to make a movie out of "The Watchmen".
