June Walks
First of all I'd like to thank all the folks who answered my keychain question on Friday. Your answers were really fun.
And I want to thank
baylorsr for some fun conversations in her recent LJ posts on the new Harry Potter book just when I needed such discussion. I really enjoyed those talks a lot, Baylor.
Here's a page of photos from some of my more recent hikes.

I'm now at 227.5 miles on my walking challenge, almost exactly halfway to Rivendell and quite confident now that I'm going to get there and beyond before the December deadline. My goal is to average three miles of walking a day each day of my summer holidays.
Today John and I went walking in downtown Toronto along Queen St. and King St.. On Queen St. I was delighted to find a LOTR movie poster that I had been searching for since losing my original copy in our move. I was also happy to find a really pretty gold trim to pass onto Donna next weekend to make a belt to go with the dark green gown she's made me for "The Gathering" (and that it now looks like I'll be wearing for the first time at Toronto Trek in two weeks when I spend time with Donna there).
On King St. we went to Mountain Equipment Co-op, a store I've wanted to check out for quite some time. They specialize in equipment for outdoor activities and many of the hiking resources I've read rave about the store. They did have an impressive range of everything from clothing to books to sports equipment to camping gear to kayaks. John and I spent a long time browsing through the hiking books and maps. I bought Hiker Mike's second book, "Adventures Farther Afield" because I really enjoyed his first book, "Hiker Mike's Best Hikes". Hiker Mike deserves a LJ entry of his own, which I may give him after finishing his new book. For now I'll just say he's a Toronto-area hiking guru who, besides hiking and writing books, does weekend talks about local hikes on Toronto radio station CFRB.
Tomorrow I plan to walk in the neighbourhood and do some apartment work (which I've been ignoring shamelessly through report cards and year end stuff). Tuesday is John's birthday as well as Canada Day and we're going hiking at a place of his choice and then meeting my sister, Sheilagh, for dinner at The Mandarin. Yum. It was Sheilagh's birthday last week, so we'll be celebrating two events in one.
And I want to thank
