Decision Made
Lily, Annette and I (who ran our school musical this year) made an important decision this week. We've decided we're not going to produce a full school musical next year. We've put a lot of time and effort into producing two musicals over two years ("Joseph" in 2002, "Fiddler" this year) and we've decided it's a good idea to take a year's rest before possibly attempting another full-school show in 2005. Our principal supports our decision and she says she thinks it's healthy for a school to have a change-over of activities and not get stuck feeling certain activities -must- be done each year.
Having made our decision, though, Lily and I, both Gr. 5 teachers again next year, think we may produce a less ambitious Gr. 5 musical, instead. The beauty of that is that it will be on a much smaller scale, we can wait until after Christmas to start it, not worry so much about juggling rehearsals and we can incorporate the singing, acting and dancing right into our Gr. 5 arts and physical education curriculum. We're thinking we might do "Annie", as that would be just right for the age group and we can get a kit from "Broadway Jr.", similar to the Fiddler kit we got this year, that will give us everything we need to put the show together.
And, of course, we'll continue on with the choir, maybe preparing them for a major concert of Christmas music in December, something we haven't done in a couple of years.
Exercise log- Too hot to do a lot of walking today, but I am now up to 210 miles.
