Ready for the Weekend

There's nothing like being holed away writing report cards all week to make the weekend seem even sweeter. Report cards are now done (hooray!) and I'm ready for fun.

School ends at 3 tomorrow and by then my report cards will be printed and in the hands of my principal (she has to read all the report cards and sign them by early next week). John will be working for a few more hours, so I'll put in my 3.5 miles of walking for the day after school.

Our plans are then to go see "The Hulk", which ought to be interesting on opening night. Due to some unscrupulous person in the distribution line of "The Hulk", the movie has been on-line now for two weeks, therefore a person whose opinion I trust tells me the movie is actually good and will surprise me. I'm a little cynical about super-hero movies right now, so we'll see. The fact that the director is the same guy who did "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is the only thing that's keeping me open-minded at the moment.

When we come out of the movie we're going to head to the bedlam that will be Indigos bookstore right beside the theatre in Richmond Hill. It will be the midnight unveiling of "Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix" and I've had my copy pre-ordered for about two months. Should be an adventure just to see how chaotic a bookstore can be at midnight. Lots of hyper, tired kids, I'm sure. But I'm psyched to have the new book in hand.

Aside: John was really happy to learn today that the fifth book in Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series is coming out this November (and the next two within the year after that). I haven't read the "Dark Tower" series, but it's been highly recommended, so maybe I should read it this summer. Hopefully Rowling will take her inspiration from King and won't leave us hanging another three years for the sixth HP book.

John has an interview in London on Saturday with a independent film website interested in finding independent film makers to provide them with content for their site. John has no idea if it will pan out or not, but we've never driven to London before, so it should be an adventure. John says I can read the new Harry Potter book aloud to him to keep him amused on the road :). I'll have him drop me at a mall somewhere while he goes to the interview (heck, I may just find a bench and read during that time). Once we hook up again we're going to go to a conservation area north of London to go hiking. I'm at 192 miles on my walking challenge and I'm determined to get to 200 miles and my eighth 25 mile reward shield this weekend.

After our hike we're going to drive into Hamilton to visit my parents and sister, Anne, and stay the night. My Dad has promised us a barbeque, which will be fun. On Sunday we're going to head over to Dundas to go hiking at Borer's Falls and in the Hamilton Botanical Gardens. And after that we'll head back home to Richmond Hill.

And then I'm bound to spend the rest of Sunday lost at Hogwarts.

Hope all of you have a great weekend, too!
