Neighbourhood Walk

I've become determined to try and step up my weekday walking again. I've been good at hiking on the weekends, but my weekday walking really dried up during the final weeks of practising for "Fiddler" and it's been hard to kick up the momentum to get going again now that "Fiddler" is done.

I decided yesterday that one way to get myself motivated again was to start exploring streets I haven't walked along yet. I used to do that a lot when I did my walking in Thornhill, but not so much since I moved. Here in Richmond Hill I've been sticking to pretty much the same walking route. Yesterday I decided to walk in the opposite direction from where I usually walk, up into downtown Richmond Hill.

It was a really nice three mile walk, definitely a keeper for the future. One road was a lush residential area with lots of trees hanging over the sidewalks. Turning onto Yonge St. revealed a whole bunch of little shops selling rugs, books, furniture, etc.. Quite a lovely walk. I wandered into a terrific used bookstore called "Books On The Hill", one of those type that's bulging at the seams with books, on the shelves and on the floor and that you could spend several hours browsing through. I bought an old book on walking tours in Toronto- a book I plan to take advantage of in the summer.

Hopefully yesterday's pleasant walk will keep me motivated to continue weekday walking. Today I'm going to meet Deb and Jodi for dinner in north Toronto, so I'll bus to the far end of the subway and then walk to the restaurant from there (and back). Tomorrow I would like to walk up into downtown Richmond Hill again and then on the weekend we can go hiking!

Exercise log- 165.5 miles out of 458 miles along my "Walk To Rivendell" challenge.
