A Wrinkle In Time

I read in catalana's journal earlier this afternoon about the death of Madeleine L'Engle. The moment deserves recognition. Of all the books that truly rocked my world as a child, L'Engle's "A Wrinkle In Time" was right up there. I've always acknowledged that book as the first true science fiction novel I ever recall reading and the wonder and inspiration the book left me with moved me into a whole incredible world of science fiction literature. I love Meg and her final scenes rescuing Charles Wallace tore my heart out then and they still do. The sequels never had as much of an impact on me, but the influence of "A Wrinkle In Time" on a certain wide-eyed ten-year-old girl can never be over-estimated.

Thank you, Madeleine L'Engle.
