Happy Fourth!

Gray, overcast, rainy day today. Good day to go to a movie. John and I are going to see Michael Moore's "Sicko" this afternoon. John's going to be at Polaris, Toronto's media science fiction convention, most of this weekend, and we figure a documentary won't last in theatres for much longer than a week.
So the Sony Vaio I had chosen after six months of research into laptop computers has been denied to me *sniff*. I went out to buy one yesterday and discovered that the model is right on the tail-end of its manufacturing run, which is making it utterly impossible to find one. Several stores have a floor model on display, but don't actually have new freshly boxed Sony Vaios in stock. I checked Best Buy, Future Shop, the Sony store and the Sony website and the song was always the same- the laptop isn't being made anymore, no they don't have any in stock, no none of the stores in the area have any in stock, no they can't order one for me. Sigh, so I finally gave up and I'll have to start my research over again to find a comparable laptop at a similar price. I may also wait until early August in the hopes stores will be better stocked once the "Back to School" rush begins. Still I liked that pretty black laptop with the copper trim and I am sad. John tells me I am fated to have a -better- laptop. I do hope so...
