Easter Weekend- Part 2
After Donna left for Buffalo and before I headed up on the subway to meet John I walked over to the Eaton's Centre to pick up a copy of the children's novel, "Holes". I had wanted to read it for awhile and with the movie of the novel just released and getting good reviews (and comparisons to Roald Dahl, a favorite of mine) I figured I should read the book before going to see the movie. Read it over the weekend and really liked the writing style a lot. Will go to see the movie next weekend. John's presently reading the book right now.
Met up with John around 3 and since we met earlier than expected we decided to drive out and try to find a good hiking spot. We went out to Kelso Conservation Area in Halton county, a place we had wanted to go to last summer, but we found their trails closed. Instead, we continued on our way to Hamilton and stopped at the lakefront in Burlington and walked there. Very nice, I should have some photos up in a few days.
(aside: one of the downsides of moving... I'm starting to discover things that have disappeared forever in the move, either ending up accidentally in the garbage or in a Goodwill box. A couple of nice posters have disappeared and now I've discovered my webpage software is missing, too.)
We arrived at my parent's place around 8:00 and had a lovely evening sitting around to catch up and exchanging Easter treats with my parents and sisters. Lots of chocolate goodies- I'm going to have to do -lots- of walking and weights this week :).
My sister, Sheilagh, had to work in Toronto the next morning so rather than her taking the bus my dad offered to drive her home. John and I decided to go with them, so we were up at 7:30 Easter morning to head into Toronto. Once we dropped Sheilagh off we stopped at Harvey's for breakfast and then asked my dad to find another good walking area in Hamilton. He took us to Confederation Park, which has a lovely walking trail right on the lakeshore. We walked three miles up the path and then back again. I took a number of photos which should be up on my nature page soon.
We returned home to have a yummy ham dinner. John and I decided to head home a bit earlier than we had planned due to thunderstorm warnings on the news. Sure enough, we beat the rain by about half an hour.
Thanks, Mum, Dad, Sheilagh and Anne for a fun Easter and tasty treats!
Exercise log- 2 miles of walking with Donna and Deb on Friday, another 3.5 miles with Donna and Trish and with John on the lakefront trail on Saturday, 3 miles walking in Confederation Park with Dad and John on Sunday. Monday was a day of rest. I'm now 63.5 miles into my Rivendell challenge. Seven miles to Bucklebury Ferry. Ten miles to Crickhollow. Twelve miles to my next shield.
