Healthy Resolutions

Tomorrow is the first day of Lent and I find I like to use these forty days now to do something positive toward my health and motivation, sort of an extreme cleansing. This year I've been trying to improve my eating habits, especially since learning about my high cholesterol and I've been quite good at giving up some things almost cold turkey- potato chips, fries, most eggs, shrimp, Tim Hortons treats- and not so good at giving up other things that I should- chocolate, candy, pizza, rich desserts.

So, being that I've been quite successful with my Lent promises for the last 3-4 years I'm encouraged to make a two prong promise this year. For the next forty days:

I'm going to give up chocolate, candy and rich desserts. Not to torture myself I'm going to make one exception: the weekend of FilKONtario :).

Even tougher, for the next forty days I'm going to promise to do twenty minutes or more of exercise each day (walking or treadmill or weights).

Yikes, that second promise scares me more than the first one, but I've been motivated to keep my Lent promises for the last couple of years and hopefully I won't break the streak this year.

It's only forty days, right? Yeah...
