Listens: Dave Weingart- "Just A Boy Named Harry"

Yay, I'm happy tonight. After several weeks of trying, wading through red tape and nearly giving up until I made a last-ditch effort last night, I got confirmation in e-mail today from Famous Players Theatres that our two Gr. 5 classes will be going to see "Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets" on the morning of the movie's opening day next Friday. I'm pretty excited. Not that the -teacher- is looking forward to the second Harry Potter movie as much as her students are, um, no, of course not...

I'm pleased, though, because despite trying to plan this trip over a month ago I've been given a run-around in e-mail, on the Famous Players website and left on waiting lists for information more than once. By the beginning of this week I was pretty sure that our hopes of taking the classes to the movie on opening day, as an end to the "Chamber of Secrets" novel study we've been doing, wasn't going to happen. Sometimes life is kind :).

So now tomorrow gets very very busy. Besides teaching, preparing for Monday's Remembrance Day ceremony, and Fiddler meetings I have to book a bus, sort out the theatre finances, write a parent permission form and photocopy it, and arrange for adult volunteers (something that won't be difficult for a trip like this). Then in less than a week I have to gather in all the money and permission forms, though I suspect the kids will be motivated to get them in quickly!

Whoo hoo, happy teacher!

And, hey, filkerdave! I'll be teaching "Just A Boy Named Harry" to a third generation of Gr. 3 students for their Harry Potter Day next Wednesday. I'm thinking I should teach it to my class next week, too!

PS- What is the easiest way to add the links of fellow Livejournalists to your journal entries (like the name "filkerdave" above)? I see other journalists doing it all the time, but I'm not sure how.
