Welcome, Lyanne!
I gave up my only LJ code today to a very good cause :). I would like everyone to welcome
missquirt (Lyanne Quirt) to our community!
Deb, Jodi and I first met Lyanne at a children's concert at Toronto Trek about ten years ago. She was 12 and she and her friend sat in the front row and sang and screamed with gusto when the songs allowed :). Being that she's in Ottawa and we're in Toronto we only see Lyanne and her family a few times a year, mostly at local conventions, but we've watched her move through high school and now on into university. I was amused today when Lyanne reminded me that she would like an LJ code so she had a reason to distract her from exams. I remember those days so well :). In fact, every time I write report cards I realize those days are never going to go away...
Lyanne sings well, but has to be encouraged to sing in filk circles, she plays classical flute, she dances, she read "Lord of The Rings" last summer and she loves "Star Trek: The Next Generation". She makes delicious chocolate cupcakes (I had half of one of Debbie's birthday cupcakes at FKO) and though quiet she has a wonderful dry wit. You can see photos of her in my FKO photo page here: http://members.rogers.com/30307486500/FilKONtario2003.htm . She's the one beside me in the first photo and the flute player further down the page.
I'm looking forward to getting to know Lyanne better through her journal. Make her feel welcome, OK? :)
