Home Depot
Six months ago I hardly knew what Home Depot was. These days it has become pretty much my favorite store. You have to love a hardware/department store that has pretty much everything you could ever need to renovate and spruce up your new digs.
John and I wandered Home Depot for an hour today. We bought a wooden light switch plate for my office. We bought a little plastic screw-on thingie to put the glass lamp back on the overhead office light. We bought a new overhead light for the dining room.
Without a doubt the greatest find of the day was an indoor laundry dryer venting system. After reading the manual for my new dryer we feared we were going to have to jury-rig up a venting system that would vent out the apartment window anytime I did laundry. We had originally gone to Home Depot looking for hosing and a vent to set up such a contraption. Instead, I was delighted to find little boxed indoor dryer vent kits for apartments (only $15, no less) that gives you the hosing and a little cooling unit that you fill with water each time you use the dryer and works as well as a vent. The miracles of the modern age...

We also talked to a paint guy about painting the bathroom and he showed us good paint for painting tiles, plus the primer we'd have to use. I'm pleased to see that the bathroom renovations (including a new bathroom shelf unit) should clock in under $100, which is great. Since I'll be at cons for the next two weekends we may tackle the bathroom the weekend after that. Of course, that means when Deb and Jodi come over for UT practice next week they'll see my ugly bathroom. Eek.
But Home Depot will make it all better very shortly after that.
Exercise log: I am one 60 minute walk away from completing the Idita-walk challenge. John and I are taking advantage of the nice weather tomorrow to find a good place to walk, so I'll finish my challenge at that time. Ironically, just as I finish off this walking challenge I first read today of a -new- walking challenge that has also captured my imagination. Word has it that it starts March 24 and I'll write more about it once I've gotten more details myself.
