Moved!

OK, as of now I am officially moved. We had the final meeting with the former landlord at the townhouse and gave him back the keys and paid for the carpeting and I was very glad to see the last of the house. Free, free, free! Allison is free! We are once again living in only -one- place, which makes me very happy, indeed.

So, what have we done in the last few days that was constructive? We bought a rectangular decorative planter for my violets. We bought a new dish drainer. We have curtains up now in all the rooms. We bought more bins to store stuff. We have new lampshades on the living room lamps and bedroom lamps. I've gotten about 25 bags of books up on shelves. I've hung two pictures.

The biggest event was the arrival of our new washer/dryer- whoo hoo. They fit nicely into our kitchen and dining area and I sat for an hour tonight reading through the manuals. Yikes. They might be a bit more complex to set up than I first thought, but John's saying we'll have everything up and running soon.

We still need to find a nice futon cover for the living room futon/couch and we're looking for a tapestry hanging to put on the wall above it. We're sticking with the Medieval-inspired theme for our main living area (well, with the exception of John's office corner :)) and we're keeping that in mind as we plan and decorate. Researched buying a tapestry hanging on-line- oof!, they're expensive! We're hoping we can find a cheaper knock-off that we like and that looks good :).

Still eying that ugly bathroom, but painting and renovations in there will have to wait until we've recovered financially from the last few weeks. First and last month's rent, the payment for the damaged carpeting, unexpected van repairs, the washer/dryer, a rental dolly for moving, assorted Walmart/Zellers/Ikea apartment purchases have pretty much tapped us out. Still, we should begin to reap the benefits of the considerably cheaper rent and utilities here within a few months.

It's still sinking in that we're fully moved in here now with no more commitments to the other place. Even my mail is finding me here now. It's really great to be out of the "moving" stage and into the "unpacking" stage.

Exercise log- Went for a 60 minute walk around the neighbourhood again today. The deadline for the Idita-walk challenge is creeping up on me quickly and I had no idea how much moving exhaustion would conflict with the desire to complete the challenge! I've gotten -plenty- of exercise moving, but not enough of it has been walking :-/. Looks like I'll be walking right to the wire, but I am going to make it. If all goes well I will have my walking done by Saturday to meet the Sunday deadline.
