TORC Cross-stitch Quilt Project

Yay, I've finished my third square for the "Tolkien On-line" Gathering quilt. You can see it as my icon picture today. It's "The Shield of Fingolfin", designed by J.R.R. Tolkien. Anyone interested in seeing a display of other quilt squares completed for this project can look here: http://www.geocities.com/tarinababs/work.html

The square with the owl (The Night Guild's square) and the square with the dragon harp (The Lucky Fortune Inn square) were the other pieces stitched by me.

The squares have been stitched by Tolkien fans all over the world and there are many more being finished off and making their way to the quilt stitcher in Texas. The Texas quilter will complete the quilt this year and bring it to display at "The Gathering of The Fellowship" in Toronto this December. The quilt will be raffled during the convention with the money going to a literacy organization.

I'm very pleased to be involved in a community project with so many other talented crafts-people. Special credit must be given to Sandi in Switzerland who started the quilt and continues to co-ordinate the artists, patterners, cross-stitchers, and quilters involved around the world. I'm looking forward to meeting her and many other fellow stitchers at "The Gathering"!
