Listens: Leslie Fish- "Fellowship Going South"

Huge congratulations to Bardling on becoming Interfilk Guest at ConCertino next year! And I'll be at ConCertino with Urban Tapestry to see her, which is even more exciting! Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff, Erica Neely and Bardling are a very impressive guest list to look forward to at that con!

Our "Fiddler On The Roof" production is cast :). The cast lists went up in the Intermediate hallway today. Tomorrow we start auditioning dancers. I'm not the show's choreographer, but I'm going to sit in on the auditions, anyway. By next week we'll be into serious rehearsals. Tonight I have to start dubbing cast tapes with all the songs each character will have to learn and memorize.

Hmmm, I'm having one of those journal days where I feel I don't have that much to say (probably not an unusual journal phenomenon), so maybe I'll post my latest song lyric, instead. It's based on the youth novel "Tuck Everlasting", which I read for the first time two weeks back. Still haven't seen the movie, though I hear it wasn't as good as the book. My song still doesn't have a tune yet.

Everlasting
By Allison Durno

The woods echo darkly with unfulfilled longing
An impossible secret and a family long gone
A promise to a boy who once touched my heart
His fate now beyond mortal bounds.

He offered immortality, he offered love forever
To be together through the years
Or to always be apart,
A simple taste of water
A hidden draught of time
To drink from the forest stream
Brings endless life divine.

As the past takes hold, I remember his smile
As I close my eyes, I breath his name
He held me to a rendezvous when I turned seventeen
But, oh, can he understand my fears?
And, oh, can I offer him this cost?

For to drink of the water
Is to step beyond this world
To drink of the water is good-bye
To people that I love, to passages of life
To release when my soul knows its time.

Still, he offers immortality, he offers love forever
To be together through the years
Or to always be apart,
A simple taste of water
A hidden draught in time
To drink from the forest stream
Brings endless life divine.

Should I drink from the water?
