Medieval-inspired Decorating
Yay, Jodi finished "Lord of The Rings" last night :). She was finally inspired to read it so she can write a song or two for UT's concert at The Gathering of the Fellowship next December. She decided Eowyn was a very cool character and Faramir even cooler, though she now understands why fans were a little dismayed at Faramir's portrayal in the second movie. I don't think she'll ever be quite as entranced with Middle-earth as I am (292 days until the third movie...), but at least now we have the common point-of-reference.
So, this weekend we officially start moving. Our goal is to get as much over to the apartment in the first weekend as we need to start living over there. Next week we'll use the apartment as home-base and we'll go back to the townhouse each night to complete the packing and get everything moved. I'm hoping the next weekend we'll be fully moved.
I find myself looking ahead to doing some home decorating at the new apartment. Being that we're going into a smaller space I'd like to make it as interesting and homey as possible. I've never been much of a home decorator and I took no interest in the place we're moving out of, but I have the itch this time around to putter around and decorate. Maybe it's all those episodes of "Trading Spaces" and "While You Were Out" that I've watched in recent months. The one thing I notice about the renovations on those shows is that they often start with a theme for a room before starting to plan and decorate- Greek, south-western, jazz hall, etc. I've never really done that before but I'm thinking it might be fun.
So, in keeping with the Tolkien theme above, I'm thinking it would be fun to decorate my apartment living room with a Medieval theme. Still, it's easier said than done, my knowledge of home decorating is practically zero. I have a few hand-made tapestries, a couch in kind of rich Medieval colours, but I'd like to try something different.
So I would love advice or ideas. Are there good websites to go to to get home decorating ideas? Anyone out there with home decorating flair who has any ideas for a Medieval-themed living room on a reasonable budget?
And if that all works out, maybe I'll tackle the bedroom next. Geez, in our current place I didn't even hang pictures on the wall in our bedroom, it was dead boring. The "Trading Spaces" people would have been appalled.
Exercise log- I've been walking when I can, still working on the Idita-walk challenge. I forget my exact numbers (they're at home), but I have about 620 minutes still to walk. According to my scale this morning, though, I've lost 6 pounds since starting my new exercise program.
