Stitchin' and Packin'
Whoa, nasty weather here yesterday, snow, freezing rain. So much for the lovely spring weather I was walking through on Friday. John and I picked up Chinese food and then hunkered in for the night.
We went to see "DareDevil" on Friday night. I didn't find myself liking it or disliking it so much as just being indifferent. It didn't leave much of an impression on me. I find myself watching movies like this and falling into a state of super hero fatigue. All these plots are starting to seem the same- same freak powers, same family deaths, same vigilante vengeance, same angsty romance, same snoopy reporters, same irony of the good-meaning super-hero being seen as the bad guy. Ho hum. Still looking forward to "X-Men 2" in May, though.
Doing lots of moving tasks. Finally got the estimate on the stair rug here that we have to replace before we leave (because the cat decided the stairs would make a great scratching post...). Was glad to discover that the estimate is much cheaper than I had feared it might be. Packing boxes and bags like crazy here. One week and counting before we take possession of the new apartment.
Had an Irish coffee and LOTR DVD night last night. It'll be the last one in this house.
Speaking of LOTR, I got a request from the Tolkien On-Line quilt leader Friday asking if I would do another last minute cross-stitch square for our quilt. Despite being really, really busy it was a request I couldn't turn down :). I had so much fun stitching the first two squares for them. What's cool about this third square is that it's a shield design based on artwork by J. R. R. Tolkien. Seems Tolkien drew and painted a whole bunch of shields at some point representing the various Elfish houses in Middle-earth. I'm stitching the Shield of Fingolfin (I had to re-read parts of "The Silmarillion" to remind myself that Fingolfin was an Elven King during the First Age of Middle-earth). Anyway it's a nice simple geometric design with bright colours so it will be fun to work on during the madness of February and March.
Exercise log- Friday I walked for 60 minutes and did weights for 35 minutes. Yesterday I got 30 minutes of walking in before the weather hit down hard. Still 749 minutes to go to complete the Idita-walk challenge.
