Packing Frenzy

With two weeks to go before moving into the new apartment, John and I have gone on a packing tear this weekend. And what we're finding surprising is that, when ruthless, it's true that as much is going into the garbage and into boxes for Goodwill as is being packed to go to the new place. And that's a very good thing, because as much as we can whittle down before heading to the apartment, the better.

I cleaned out the front closet and the linen closet completely today and took a stab at the guest bedroom. The most major task in there was about 7-8 boxes and bags of assorted cassette tapes that I'd been ignoring for some time. Sat down today and ruthlessly either threw them away or put them into a handful of thin boxes for keeping. I must have thrown out 4 bags of assorted cassettes today, in a cold sweat the entire time, but knowing that they simply couldn't move with us from one place to another. I kept important tapes- compilations, professional tapes, tapes with sentimental value- but the rest are gone. Yikes, probably most of the oral history of Urban Tapestry over the last ten years. I also have tons of old filktapes from years back that I really have no room for anymore, either. I'm very tempted to bring them in a box to FKO and just say "$5 CAN each to whoever wants them". I'd like to see them go to good filk homes.

Three more boxes have gone off to Goodwill today, two more are almost full to go.

And we still have a long, long way to go to have everything ready to move.

Exercise log: I did weights on Thursday, winter walked on Friday and yesterday. I have 869 minutes to go to complete the Idita-walk challenge. I have a slight cold today so I likely won't go out walking today for fear of making it worse. Maybe packing counts for some exercise?
