Listens: 70's Weekend on Q-107

Walking and Haircuts and Washer/Dryers

Have to start today by wishing my father a happy birthday.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Yay, the participant list went up today for the Idita-Walk challenge and there was my name, 114th of 418 walkers. Skimming down the list it seems 10 of us are Canadians and the rest are Americans and I'm 1 of 2 people participating in the Toronto area :). The challenge starts Monday. I've printed out my tracking sheet and I'm ready.

John and I both went to get haircuts today. Fifteen minutes before we went out the door John pulls back his rather lengthy hair, looks in a mirror and comments, "I thinkin' of going Bruce Willis today, what do you think?". "Um, what do you mean?". What he meant was he had decided to radically cut his hair, about as short as he could cut it. I was more than surprised, as it's usually all I can do to get John to cut his hair at all, but sure enough he got to the hair-dresser and said, "Cut it all off". Whoa. Well, I like it a lot, though I'm still getting used to it! I went far more conservative, only getting my bangs shaped and an inch taken off the bottom.

After that, we drove around to Home Depot and then Sears to look at and price washer/dryer packages. The one thing I dread about moving back into an apartment is going back to a communal laundry room, so I've decided it's well worth the expense to get a washer/dryer for the apartment. We found a combo at Sears we quite liked with a washer on wheels that will roll back and forth from the sink easily, so chances are good we'll return to buy the set next weekend.

Exercise log: Did 50 minutes of winter walking yesterday and I'm off to walk again today as soon as I send this entry. Went looking for an exercise mat today (I find some of the weights stretching that I do is rather difficult to do on the rug). Found one I liked, but will probably wait until we move to buy it. I also saw a step-aerobics kit that interested me, too. It had the step and an instructional video included. John was looking at me skeptically at the thought of investing in yet another form of exercise, but the thing is I still haven't found a form of cardio that I like doing in the house (when it's too late or too miserable to walk outside). I'm not crazy about exercise biking and I don't have much room to do aerobics, especially once we move. Has anyone out there done step aerobics before? What did you think?
