And So It Goes
Hmmm, haven't written here in a week. Haven't had a lot to say. Let's see, what's going on?
Been feeling rather low energy for the last several days due to the second part of the root canal I had last Saturday. I had some kind of reaction and my gums became swollen and sore, so that's been very distracting for the last few days. I can now extol the virtues of extra-strength Advil, as it has been a wonder at keeping a majority of the discomfort at bay. Hopefully, after my third root canal appointment tomorrow my mouth will start to settle down some.
Took my class skiing for the first time out of three lessons yesterday, which is always a Gr. 5 highlight for my class. It was pouring rain when I first woke up yesterday, but luckily it had stopped by the time the students started their ski lesson. Unfortunately, it did make the snow surface especially slippery and frictionless, which was a bit trickier for first-time skiers, but they all had fun and can't wait to go back next week, which is cool.
Saw "Ray" on DVD on the weekend and enjoyed it a lot. I'd say it's pretty much a given that Jamie Foxx will take the Best Actor Oscar this year in the title role, unless he ends up splitting his voting base with his Best Supporting Actor nomination for "Collateral" (which I haven't seen). I'll be doing a more comprehensive Oscar prediction post closer to the big event.
New episode of "Lost" tonight- yay, small things make me happy. Watching whole seasons of a TV series on DVD has its fun (John and I watched the first few episodes of "Carnivale" on DVD this weekend, the show doesn't air here in Canada), but there is something really satisfying about countin' down the days to a favorite show and being able to react to new developments with fellow fans. Because, hey, Claire is back (!) and Ethan is threatening Charlie again (!) and somebody is in a body bag at the end of the teaser with everyone looking sad (!) and that's all rather ominous. Bring it on.
And lastly (as the bell rings here to end recess), Happy Birthday to my DAD!!! (one day late) Unfortunately, I dozed off early last night and didn't get a chance to put this greeting in on time. Hope you had a good day, Dad, and I'll talk to you very soon!
