Hee hee, I was amused by Debbie's last question to the music meme that has been tossed to her by Erin this week. The question was essentially, "Who are you going to pass this meme on to?" and one of her answers was, "Allison, to see if she'll do it." :). You see, Deb knows I don't tend to answer memes and certain types of memes I never post. Still, not all memes are created equal. I don't tend to mind questionnaire-type memes and often the answers people come up with are quite interesting, unique and thoughtful. The memes I have vowed to never post are those icon-based memes where you are asked "Which Star Wars character would be your best date?" or "What colour is your aura?" or "Which historical era would be the best fit for you?" and then you answer a questionnaire and post the HTML into your journal. No, those kind of memes I will never post, but then that's just a personal quirk :).
1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
No idea and I'm typing here from a classroom computer. I would say, though, that since I only figured out how to burn CDs in the last year that the number of music files on my computer has increased dramatically in the last six months alone.
2. The CD you last bought is:
"Middle Earth" by Bob Catley. I've heard Tolkien fans talking about it for awhile so decided, in my quest to gather together all the cool Tolkien-inspired songs, to order it. Still waiting for it to arrive from Amazon.
3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?
"Uplift" by Andy Eigel. I was listening to a series of OVFF recordings that Paul and Beckett sent me while I was on the treadmill last night and the track was from Andy's OVFF concert, which I was in the audience for. Great song.
4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you:
Fellowship Going South- Leslie Fish (has always been my favorite filk song) I Want to Hold Your Hand- The Beatles (a song that makes me genuinely happy any time I hear it) By My Side- Godspell (gentle, fragile, emotional, has always moved me a lot. Paul Kwinn does a nice version of it at filks.) Dancin' In The Street- Martha and The Vandellas (always makes me want to dance, great for exercise tapes) Columbia- Ookla The Mok (yeah, it's officially called something else I can never remember, but this song always gives me a smile and a thrill any time I hear it, just embodies the positive spirit of adventure.)
5. Who are you going to pass this stick to? (3 persons) and why?
pafuts because she has a funky style that will make for interesting answers. cadhla who always writes interesting LJ media posts. sexybass because he does lots of filk, folk and radio stuff and will have cool answers.
QUESTION:
So, what do you think of memes? Do they inspire you, amuse you or annoy you? Are there certain types of memes you're more likely to answer than others? Are you the type that enjoys answering most memes that come along and see it as one of the fun and bonding things about blogging? Do you sometimes answer the multiple-choice memes, but then never post the results? (Allison puts up her hand...) Do you complete memes only occasionally when the spirit hits you? Or do you simply never do memes at all? Have you ever written a meme and what kind of response did it get?
