Toronto Trek
Yay, John and I are going to a matinee of "Spiderman 2" this afternoon and then off to Toronto Trek, the city's big media con, for tonight.
Frequently in the past I've gone to Toronto Trek for the whole weekend, but we're going up north for a BBQ at John's sister's place to celebrate Canada Day and John's birthday tomorrow, so we're just going to TT for the one night.
The filk guests of honour for TT are Ookla The Mok, so I'm looking forward to catching up with Rand and Adam tonight and meeting their new drummer, Sterling. They have an hour long concert tonight at 8:00, which should be fun. John's anxious to play with his new digital video camera and try filming an event with two cameras at once (one on a tripod, one he carries) so he's planning to film the Ookla concert tonight and put together a DVD of the footage similar to the Urban Tapestry DVD of our concert at "The Gathering of The Fellowship", which was auctioned off at the Interfilk auction at FilKONtario.
Looking forward to catching up with the local filk crew tonight, too! John and I have to leave the con by midnight, but I hope to get to a bit of open filking before then. I'm not going to bring my guitar, hoping some kind filker will lend me one if I need one, but I am going to bring a binder of filk music with me.
And, of course, I'm going to try to get into the dealer's room and the art show and maybe attend the "Star Wars and Spirituality" panel Rand is on, but we'll see what time is like.
Amazing to realize this is Toronto Trek 18. Wow, I can still remember doing filk programming at a tiny Toronto Trek 1. Have I really been doing this for eighteen years now???
