... Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair...
On May 21, 2004, St. Joseph's, the school I teach at, turns forty years old. To celebrate the occasion the school is going to have a 1960's Day. The intermediate kids are going to do a lip-sync concert to 1960's music and there's a button contest in-play right now to design a psychedelic 60's inspired button with the winning design being made for all of us to wear on May 21. Groovy.
And, of course, we're all being asked to dress as if from the 60's. Looking in my closet, it is sadly lacking in 60's influence, despite my mild bohemian tendencies. No tie-dye, no day-glo, no patches, no fringe. Not even a peasant blouse, poncho, headband or a macrame belt.
So, any suggestions? What would be a cheap, easy to find way to get that 60's groove going? Ideas would be welcome.
Also, what would be a appropriate, representative 60's song that I could teach my students that day?
And lastly, if I wanted to show my class a TV show or a movie (no longer than 90 minutes preferably) with a very 60's feel to it, any suggestions as to what might be good?
