It's an X-Files vid. Back during the show's original run there were music videos, but most of them were super mini squinty vision and I had no earthly idea how to make them. By the time I had acquired that particular set of skills, I had moved on to other fandoms.

Just watched the SHIELD season finale. What do I even say? Every character had something momentous happen, for good or bad. And that ending...

By the way, every time Ward shows his true colors I think about that person, a year or so ago, who unfriended me when I called Ward a psychopath. And I wonder what mental contortions she's going through to tell herself that her shmoopie doesn't really mean it, is still being controlled by others, is just misunderstood, etc. I wondered for a while if they were going to go into a redemption arc for him, but he's only gotten worse. Which I'm fine with, by the way. Every crew of heroes needs a villain.

Oh, and I may be biased, but Ant-Man looks stupid beyond belief.

Words of Radiance (Stormlight Archive) by Brandon Sanderson I don't know when the third book in the series is planned to come out, but it can't be soon enough.

The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker A really beautiful, complex story

Books that were decent but forgettable/otherwise lacking

The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennett A cute accompaniment to the web series but not groundbreaking

Raven Flight (Shadowfell) by Juliet Marillier This series isn't bad, exactly, but it's surely not up to her usual standards

Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence I had literally forgotten what this one was about. I had to look it up. Clever writing but obviously not a story that stuck with me

The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan I admit it... I wanted a sappy epilogue

Lock In by John Scalzi A good, solid, well-written scifi mystery. I wanted ship, somehow, I think.

Coming Home by Jack McDevitt McDevitt's Alex Benedict books are an enjoyable exercise in frustration. JUST GET TOGETHER, ALEX AND CHASE. There was some regrettable liberal utopia crap in this one, and there wasn't enough Alex in general, but I'll still buy the next one

George Washington's Secret Six: The Spy Ring that Saved the American Revolution by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger I don't read much nonfiction, but this was pretty good.

Work's been busier this year than it's been in a while, what with me being back in a regular classroom, so maybe that's why I've read so few books, relative to past years. I'm going to try to read more new stuff in 2015... and to use the library more.

Is it wrong that I make a point to go read the 30 Covers, 30 Days entries on the NaNoWriMo blog? And that I do it mainly to get my jollies from reading really dreadful-sounding synopses?

Yeah. Well.

This week, on Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Save Me From Ward Fangirls: "Oh, well obviously he didn't kill Christian because he acted all nice and stuff after Christian confessed! Christian must just have felt bad and committed the murder-suicide on his own. It couldn't possibly have been staged by the TRAINED ASSASSIN because OMG REDEMPTION ARC!
