New challenges

So it's been FOREVER since I last posted. Stuff happens, life goes on. I was thinking the other day about stuff that I miss. LJ was one of them. Making icons for LJ was another, but I'm not entirely sure I want to get back into that. I'd have to relearn photoshop and that just doesn't sound like fun at the moment.

I decided to try to keep track of all the new books I read this year. And new movies I see. I have one of each already. Going for a goal of 100 books. No goal for movies. I see plenty of those anyway.

B1: Demon Lord of Karanda (The Malloreon - Book 3) - David Eddings.
The Malloreon series is a set of 5 books that follows the Belgariad series. Your basic fantasy book series. They are quick and fun to read.

M1: Blazing Saddles
I've had this movie on dvd for ages now. Was just never in the mood to watch it. Got tired of all the looks I get when I say I've never seen it.

I'm pretty sure I can make the 100 book mark. I do like to read. :D

So yeah. Hey guys. Been a while. Everyone been doing good? That's nice.

Anyway. It's been 22 weeks since I last posted. Sad to say, nothing much has been happening. Just working and playing WoW.

Let's see. What have I done lately?
- I removed my eyebrow ring. It was migrating, the bastard.
- I found out I weigh about 20 lbs less than I thought I did. That was nice. Probably gained it all back though.
- Hit lvl 70 with my main toon - Niamh - on WoW
- Killed my lovely 30GB Creative Zen:Vision M mp3 player. Dropped it in the toilet. XD
- Bought an extremely lovely 80GB iPod Classic. Totally love it.
- Bought a new computer. An Acer Aspire M5100. It's pretty.
- Bought The X-Files: The Ultimate Collection. I love The X-Files.
- Caught up on Boston Legal. Excellent show. Well not entirely caught up. Just the first 3 seasons.

That's about it, besides the occasional movie going. Went to see

today. Meh. Horton was kinda funny. Doomsday was blah. It was really weird, and normally I like weird. It was too much.

Thinking of moving my main alt on WoW - Braiinns - to the server Lyn is on or to my main server, Hellscream. I can't decide. I'll flip a coin tomorrow. It'll cost me $25 bucks to do it, but the server she's on now is just terrible.

Can't think of much else. Just wanted to say howdy. I'll try to post more often if I can think of anything interesting to say.

So. Since I'm so incredibly tired of my life, I'm gonna make some changes. Not major ones, mind you. I'm gonna dye my hair - have 3 blond streaks - 2 in the very front and one underneath in the back. The one in the back will be dyed pink this weekend. Tomorrow I will be going to Jackson with my brother and getting my eyebrow pierced. Good times. I'm so excited and terrifed.

Now it's time for TV talk. :D

Sunday:
5pm - the rerun on Gossip Girl. Can't watch it Wed. night. I like it ok. Not an absolute must-watch.
8pm - Desperate Housewives - so incredibly irritating this season. Can't stand Edie and I wish Susan would die a horrible death.
9pm - Shark. I do love James Woods.
Monday:
7pm - Chuck. LOVE this show.
7pm (recorded) - Prison Break. Kinda blah so far.
8pm - Heroes, of course.
9pm - Journeyman - heard it may get cancelled. Won't break my heart. It's good, but I can live without it.
Tuesday:
7pm - NCIS - still one of my favorite shows on the telly
8pm - House - getting a bit old really.
8pm(recorded) - Reaper. I totally love this show. If you're not watching it, start!
9pm - L&O:SVU - where's Munch??
Wednesday:
7pm - Pushing Daisies - This show is so oddly entertaining.
8pm - Bionic Woman. Could live without it as well
8pm(recorded) - Criminal Minds. LOVE this show
9pm - Life - very entertaining

7pm - Smallvillle - love me some Lex

8pm - Supernatural - love it so much!

8pm(online sometime) - CSI - getting a bit tired, but i'll still watch it for Nick :D
9pm - L&O:CI - Man, Goren's getting old.
Friday:
8pm - Moonlight - kinda blah, really. Only watch it because there's nothing else on.
9pm - Numb3rs - still entertaining.
9pm(recorded) - Stargate:Atlantis. My favorite show on SciFi.

So yeah. I watch a LOT of tv. I've even started watching How I Met Your Mother on tvlinks. I also watch Dirty Jobs all the time. Love me some Mike Rowe. :D

Been playing WoW less lately. Or it just seems like it because I only play for short periods of time. I do have paid time until December. :D I'd go play it now, but I'm sitting at the dinner table and this computer is making my hands sweat. lmao

Bought a laptop tonight. It was almost exactly the same as the one I wanted at Best Buy, but $100 cheaper at Circuit City. AND I get a $50 rebate. Speaking of which, I should send that in. Soon. I'm so totally broke, it's not even funny. I think I barely have 10 bucks left in my acct.

Anyway. It's a HP Pavilion 6000 series. Has 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, NVIDIA graphics card, and Windows Vista (which is already about to drive me nuts with all the pop-up warnings...).

So yeah. EXCITED!

Installing WoW on it now. It's like the first thing I'm doing on it. LMAO. Taking forever though. AND I can't log into my acct on WoW on this computer for some reason. Won't go past Authenticating. :(

Now I just have to buy some accessories. Like a mouse. This touchpad is for the birds. I want a scrolly wheel! What do you guys think about those cooling pads? Should I get one?

YAY WoW is finished installing. Now to install The Burning Crusade. :D I'm way too addicted to this game.

Also, my Blood Elf, Niamh, on the Hellscream server hit lvl 20 last night during an instance! YAY!
Another YAY - my resolution on the lappy is 1280x800, so that means I can use pretty premade UIs! *boogies*

YAY again! Hee.

Just a question, really.

I'm looking to buy a laptop in the next month or so (once I've saved up enough) and I need suggestions on good ones/brands. I plan on doing all my stuff on there - internet, WoW, icon-making, maybe even the Sims, so yeah. What's a good, not-very-expensive laptop? I'd rather find one I could buy locally, like at Best Buy or something.

Also, I haven't read any of my f-list since like Friday. And I won't read any of it until I've finished with

. Hopefully it won't be too much longer. I have a feeling I'll be going like skip=200.

In WoW news, I've been playing like constantly. I have a blood elf paladin in the Hellscream realm and 3 other characters on Mok'Nathal. I've been neglecting my Mok'Nathal characters. Love my Blood Elf. :D

Get this. Yesterday, we were going to go see that Chuck and Larry movie in Clinton. We get there and a lady comes up to the truck and tells us that the theater is closed. There's a sign up that said "Closed until further notice" and there was a cop inside. Still don't know what happened. Or if it's open yet. That just sucks. I hope it's not permanent. It's the closest movie theater! It already sucks that we have to drive 30 minutes just to watch a movie. It'd suck even more if we had to add 15-30 minutes to that to get to the other theaters.

Anyway. LAPTOPS! Please. :D

So. I haven't really been doing anything besides working and playing WoW. I haven't even played the Sims since I upgraded the RAM in this computer. LMAO. WoW is like taking over everything. I foresee spending zillions of $$$ on that game. It's very fun though. I have a lvl 15 Undead Warlock and a lvl 7 Tauren Druid. After I get the EP, I'll try playing an Alliance character. :D

Saw OotP Thursday. Was better than the last couple of movies. Needed more Snape though. You can never have too much Snape. In other HP news, I'm kinda "blah" over the release of the last book. It's weird - for the last one, I was all like YAY HARRY POTTER!!. Now I'm just like okay.... I do want to avoid spoilers though.

Back to WoW - I'm looking for some groovy UI mods. I've tried a couple, but they're not what I'm looking for. There are a couple of screenshots that I've seen that are totally awesome, but they don't list what mods are used. :(

Anyway. Sorry I haven't made any icons lately. See 1st paragraph. One of these days, I'll sit down and catch up. I think I have 4 DW eps left to icon. I really need to get that done. Too bad it's not as much fun as WoW. It'd be done by now. :P

So. Here's another boring update from my boring life.

. Both were really good summer popcorn movies. :D Gonna go see Harry Potter Saturday. I HATE having to wait until Saturday to go to the movies. :(

In other news, I've been working on upgrading my computer. Just ordered a 1GB memory chip from newegg.com. Next up, I'll be buying a new USB card - for the 2.0. Need that before I buy a lovely 320GB external HD. :D Hopefully, once all that is done, I'll be able to install and play all of my Sims expansion packs without dreadful lag. Working does have it's perks. :D

In other gaming news, I bought Final Fantasy XII for the PS2. It's one of those games that will make me dizzy if I play it too long though. :( I'll try to play it more after I get the walkthrough book thing.

I'm also going to start playing World of Warcraft (as soon as I install the new memory chip). It's all twocorpses's fault :P. So YAY for new obsessions! I'm due for another one, I suppose. I don't play the Sims all that much anymore. Or Neopets. I just log on to do the rays, play Food Club and buy stocks.

In geek news, David Hewlett's movie A Dog's Breakfast is up for download on both iTunes and Amazon Unbox for like $15. I haven't decided if I want to buy it now, or wait until September for the DVD. I really am eager to watch it though. It looks incredibly funny. I might download it this weekend. It'll give me something fun to do Sunday. :D

And I think that's it for now. Gonna poke around on newegg.com and then go to bed.

Still working. Almost full time now.

Get this. I've only been working there since the 1st, right? I've already gotten a key to one of the stores that I'll be working at/closing. I'm also getting paid more than the other girl that works with me there. She's been there for a year and is only getting $5.50/hour. I've been there like 3 weeks and make $8/hour. She was a bit ticked when they gave me the key instead of her. But like I said, I'm older (she's like 17!) and more experienced. He trusts me for some reason.

Anyway. The job itself isn't so bad - now that I'm at a different store, anyway. There's like jack to do there. I just sit on my ass and watch tv, read, do crossword puzzles, and sporadically wait on customers for 6.5 hours a day. :D

Today has been a shitty day. Want to know why? Too bad. I'm gonna tell you anyway.

First off, I wake up with a HUGE cold sore and a back ache. Damn herpes. My lip was so swollen, it stuck out farther than my nose!

Then some family stuff happened. Same old stupid shit.

Then comes dinner time. I put on some spaghetti. Burnt it. I had no clue you could burn spaghetti.

Put on some more water for mac & cheese. (I was running out of time - needed something quick). When I went to open the bag of shells, I ripped it open and they went flying everywhere.

I put the food on the table and when I sat down, my elbow hit the spoon that was in the bowl and mac 'n' cheese went everywhere.

I decided to give up then - took a pain pill for my back (which never worked!) and watched tv.

And made icons. :D I figured the world needed more Sylar icons. :D

I have a few more books & movies to list, but I'm way too lazy for that right now. I just hope I'll remember them for the next post. Sleepy-time is nigh.

So I haven't posted in 2 weeks. Miss me? Didn't think so. I wish I could say that I've been doing totally awesome things, but alas, that is not the case.

I spent my nights for an entire week up at the hospital, sitting with my niece. She had a very large baby and a mystery infection. They wouldn't let her go home and she doesn't like being alone, so I had to go up there. I was there from 10pm to 5am. So completely boring. But I did read an assload of books! :D

Also, I've been working on another avatar for Neopets - the Plushie Tycoon one. Got it on my first try! :D Well, I haven't gotten it yet, but I will get it once they award prizes or whatnot. So YAY for that.

Another thing - made more icons! Doctor Who (S3) icons! Woo! They're at random_alley if you're at all curious.

Since my book list is WAY longer than my movie list, movies first this time!

36. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift - crappy movie filled with lovely Asian men.
37. Hot Fuzz - LOVED it. So totally funny and I love Simon Pegg. :D
38. The Condemned - one of those WWE films. Vinnie Jones and Stone Cold were in it along with a handful of people I've never seen, fighting each other to be the winner. I was half asleep through the whole thing, but that was my fault.

Books: (in no particular order)
58. Dragonsong - Anne McCaffrey - Part 1 of the Harper Hall Trilogy. I'm rather fond of these Dragonriders of Pern books. :D
59. Dragonsinger - Anne McCaffrey - Part 2 of the Harper Hall Trilogy. See Above.
60. Dragondrums - Anne McCaffrey - Final part of the Harper Hall Trilogy. Ditto.
61. The White Dragon - Anne McCaffrey - Volume 3 of the Dragonriders of Pern series. Ditto again.
62. Undead & Unpopular- MaryJanice Davidson - another Betsy, Vampire Queen book. Fun fluff.
63. The Brief History of the Dead - Kevin Brockmeier - Was pretty interesting. It's so hard to describe this without spoilers or typing paragraphs.
64. Stealing Shadows - Kay Hooper - Psychic helps police solve murders. Was ok.
65. Hiding in the Shadows - Kay Hooper - More psychic-type people helping solve murders. See Above.
66. Greywalker - Kat Richardson - A woman gets beaten, dies for 2 minutes, is revived, and can now see things (spirits, ghosts, etc...) that others can't. Was interesting. :D
67. Hot-Blooded - Lisa Jackson - Serial killer in New Orleans targets prostitues and a radio personality.

I have some movies and books to list, but first..

I'm doing a half-assed legacy/alphabet challenge and I'm having a hard time choosing which one to continue playing.

I'm not fond of romance sims, and I don't like her nose. BUT with the lovely wishing well that comes with Seasons, it'll be a gazillion times easier for her to achieve her LTW.

I think she's adorable. :D

Meh. She's sloppy.

I had to quit the game without saving 3 times to get a boy. And he looks like a girl. A MEAN girl.

I honestly don't mind either of them, but if I had to choose myself, I'd pick Amelie and Ariana both. I just want to finally achieve the woohoo with 20 sims LTW without cheating (too much). :D

Books:
51. Number One With a Bullet - Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff. Another 'podnovel' - enjoyed it very much! Summary straight from the site: When the top ten hitmen face off in a last-man standing contest being bet on by some of the world's richest men, the only rule is to stay alive.
52. Undead and Unemployed - MaryJanice Davidson - A 'Betsy, the Vampire Queen' book. It's about an undead woman with unique qualities and a major shoe fetish. It's actually quite humorous. :D
53. Dragonflight - Anne McCaffrey - The first Dragonriders of Pern novel. It was a bit of a slow start, but it got better. :D I'll continue on with this series for a while. Also, this author really loves her thesaurus.
54. Undead and Unappreciated - MaryJanice Davidson - Same as the other!

Movies:
29. Turistas - Don't waste your money or time. Seriously. I watched the whole freaking thing in fast forward and wasted 45 minutes of my life.
30. Reincarnation - Another waste of time. It's one of those Horrorfest/After Dark movies that was completely boring and so not scary. Yes, there were one or two creepy parts (hello, creepy doll and girl), but overall, I almost fell asleep. Girl is casted in a movie about a murder in a hotel (real story), and the cast starts dying under mysterious circumstances.
31. Penny Dreadful - Another Horrorfest/After Dark movie. Wasn't a complete waste of time. Kinda spooky/creepy, but not too much. Girl named Penny is on a trip with a friend. They pick up a hitchhiker and it all goes to hell.
32. Black Christmas - remake. The original was better, but that's almost always the case with remakes. Girls in sorority house get killed. Woo.
33. Grindhouse - LOVED it. Seriously. I liked Planet Terror more than Death Proof. It was totally gory. I even had to cover my eyes once. Also, the fake trailers - AWESOME. Especially "Don't." So freaking funny.

Yay movies! So, after all the hoopla about those Horrorfest movies - that "so disturbing you won't see them in theaters" crap - total lie. I've seen 4 of them so far and none of them were all that. Disappointing, really.

And I think that's it. I've got some cap-sorting to do for my next set of DW icons. :D

Books:
45. Kiss of the Night - Sherrilyn Kenyon - Yet another romance novel. And by romance, I mean porn. Meh. These books are short and relatively entertaining.
46. Sharp Objects - Gillian Flynn - Really really liked it - couldn't put it down!
47. The Cellar - Richard Laymon - I read this off and on between library visits. This guy is just nuts. Seriously.
48. The Ice Limit - Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - I always fall back to Preston and Child's books when the library doesn't have others that I want. Was entertaining. :D

And now I'm only 2 books away from my goal! Good thing I'm going to the library tomorrow - well, today really. Actually, after tonight, I'll be 1 away. I'm planning on reading the 300 graphic novel.

Movies:
22. Children of Men - Loved it.
23. Vanity Fair - Meh. Was ok. A bit long though.
24. The Last Mimzy - Well, pretty much everything I read about this movie claimed it was horrid, but really, it wasn't that bad. I only went to see it just to find out what the hell it was about. If I had kids, I'd take them to see it. Or at least rent it. Also, bring ear plugs. One of those 'toys' puts out some serious noise. High pitched squealing. I'm surprised my ears didn't start bleeding.
25. TMNT - Totally cheesy. Story could have been a little better, but it was entertaining.

Gonna go see

tomorrow/today. Going to see it today was the only way I could get out of going to see Meet the Robinsons Friday. I'm seriously sick of all the animated crap (and yes, I know TMNT is animated, but it gets a pass just because it's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!).

I think there may be another movie or two that I've forgotten. Oh well. I haven't decided if I want to play The Sims, Fairy Godmother Tycoon (so fun!), or watch Turistas.

41. Poppy Done to Death - Charlaine Harris. The last Aurora Teagarden book. I wonder if she'll write more. I really do like this series.

42. You Slay Me - Katie MacAlister. Aisling Grey, Guardian, Book 1. It's a romance novel with Dragons in human form. I kid you not. Was WAY less porn-y than some of these other "romance" novels I've been reading. I actually kinda liked it. :D

43. Doctor Janeway's Plague - John Farrell. Another podiobook. Honestly, I can't recommend it. It's not that it was bad, it was just boring and not very straightforward. I kinda got lost half way through and didn't bother trying to figure it out.

44. Heaven - Season Two: Hell - Mur Lafferty. And another podiobook. I rather liked it.

Movies:
20. Dead Birds - for a spur of the moment movie rental, it wasn't half bad. It wasn't jump-out-at-you-scary, but it was creepy. It was mostly the faces of the evil things that creeped me out.

21. Blood Diamond - was very good. Hated Leo's accent.

So, that's that. As for the recommendations part, I need new books/book series to read! I'm partial to just about anything. Also, what podcasts, if any, are you guys listening to?

In other news, my nephew got me Sims 2 Seasons. I uninstalled OFB and Pets to play it. It probably would have run just fine with those still in, but I never opened my own business (and I HATED wading through all those stupid hair and costumes to get to what I wanted). I also hated all those stupid pet wants. Seriously. Their kids are starving, but all they wanted to do was play with the damn cat. But yeah. Seasons is fun so far.

I also have a new cell phone. I don't know why, but I do. I never use it. It's cute though. It's a Pantech C-300. Tiny tiny thing.

And that's all. I should go to bed, but I think I'll play a game or 2 instead.

31. A Fool and His Honey - Charlaine Harris - Yet another Aurora Teagarden mystery. I'll be finished with this series really soon. I think there's only 2 more to go!
32. Fledgling - Octavia E. Butler - It's an interesting take on vampires. I liked it and will be looking for more of this author's stuff to read.
33. Hannibal Rising - Thomas Harris - It was interesting to see how Hannibal became who he is, but I can't say I liked this book. It was readable, but just blah.
34. Undead and Unwed - MaryJanice Davidson - Some random chick dies/becomes a vampire with unique qualities. Vampire Chick Lit, basically. Short fluff. :D
35. How to Succeed in Evil: Volume One - Patrick McLean - Another one of those "podiobooks." Was very short and surprising funny.

now! I've only ever seen the movie. Now if they'd add a Sci-Fi channel I'd be happy. The one we have now is just blah (even though I dig The Dresden Files and BSG!). The movies they show just aren't sci-fi enough.

Speaking of tv, can you believe that Heroes is going on a six-week break?!? I know it's for Sweeps, but still.

. I LOVE that show. I'm doubly excited because they're making one of my favorite book series - The Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris - into a show! Anna Paquin is starring in it as Sookie Stackhouse. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

11. Ghost Rider - I liked it. Have no idea how true it was to the comics, but I enjoyed it.

Books:
24. Infection by Scott Sigler - Another podcast novel. Totally insane and disgusting. Liked it very much. :D

25. Chopping Spree by Diane Mott Davidson - Only read it to fill the time between library visits.

26. Blue Moon by Laurell K. Hamilton - The 8th Anita Blake book. :D Not quite to the entirely porn books, but getting close!

27. The Julius House by Charlaine Harris - The 4th Aurora Teagarden book . Still loving these books.

28. A Stroke of Midnight by Laurell K. Hamilton - The 4th Merry Gentry book. Addicting PWP.

29. Dead Over Heels by Charlaine Harris - The 5th Aurora Teagarden book. Same as above.

30. Storm Front by Jim Butcher - The 1st Harry Dresden book. Loved it. :D

I've never read this many books in such a short time before. It won't last. I'll be done with all these series soon and will have to move on to longer books.

Also, I have a new lovely argyle layout from thefulcrum. LOVE IT!

18. Definitely Dead - Charlaine Harris. A Southern Vampire Mystery. Loved it. Sookie Stackhouse is one of my favorite characters.

19. Shakespeare's Trollop - Charlaine Harris. A Lily Bard Mystery. Loved it.

20. Three Bedrooms, One Corpse - Charlaine Harris. Another Aurora Teagarden Mystery. Ditto.

21. Shakespeare's Counselor - Charlaine Harris. Another Lily Bard Mystery. The final book in this series, if I'm not mistaken. Ditto, again. :D

22. Seduced by Moonlight - Laurell K. Hamilton. Another Merry Gentry book. More plot than porn this time. :)

23. 7th Son: Book One - Descent - J.C. Hutchins. Another podiobook.com book. Liked it and am eagerly awaiting the completion of Book Two.

I have a few more movies/books for my lists. And I'm gonna backdate this entry just a bit so it'll be in January.

Movies:
8. Smokin' Aces - plot summary(imdb.com):

An FBI agent (Ryan Reynolds) hunts for a Las Vegas stand up comedian (Jeremy Piven) who has decided to squeal on the mob but, before he heads off for protective custody, decides to go to the casinos at Lake Tahoe for one last good time, drawing a crowd of assassins (including Ben Affleck and Alicia Keys).

First off, he was more of a magician than comedian. I really liked it, but I've always been partial to violent films.

9. The Illusionist - plot summary(imdb.com):

Eisenheim (Edward Norton) is a magician in early 1900's Vienna, who falls in love with a woman well above his social standing. When she becomes engaged to a Crown Prince, Eisenheim uses his powers to free her and undermine the stability of the royal house of Vienna.

I liked it very much. Didn't feel the urge to fast forward at all! :D

10. Intruder - plot summary(imdb.com):

The ex-boyfriend of a check-out girl at a supermarket returns at closing time to make trouble. They quarrel and the boyfriend is ejected from the store. After they lock the building up to take inventory, the employees start dying off, and the survivors must eventually find a way to escape with their lives.

LMAO. That makes it sound more appealing than it actually was. Was totally lame and I'm incredibly glad it was a free rental.

12. A Caress of Twilight by Laurell K. Hamilton - more supernatural PWP. I can't seem to stop reading them!
13. Shakespeare's Christmas by Charlaine Harris - another Lily Bard mystery. I dig this author. :D
14. Earthcore by Scott Sigler - another podiobook from podiobooks.com. Was quite good actually, if you like those sort of books.
15. Ancestor by Scott Sigler - another podiobook. Quite a bit more violent than Earthcore, but still very good. I'm beginning to like these podcast books/stories.
16. Burnt Offerings by Laurell K. Hamilton - another Anita Blake books. Like with the others, I can't seem to stop reading them! It's like crack, I tell you.

I finally got my grubby hands on Burnt Offerings AND the Dresden books! :D *dances around*

I think that's all I have to say. I haven't really been doing much besides reading and playing the Sims. I just downloaded an assload of clothes and makeup and such for the Sims. Mainly because it was from stuff I wasn't supposed to have. I found this website - something like paysitesmustbedestroyed - that offers a bunch of "donation packs" for free. I should probably feel guilty for downloading them, but I don't. :D If any of you want the link, I'll be happy to share it, once I find it in my bookmarks. I have so many links and folders, it's scary. One day I need to weed through it. But that day is not today. Now I believe I will finally print out the rules for the legacy challenge and see if I can actually do it without cheating.

Movies:
4. Night at the Museum - Ben Stiller as a night guard at the museum where things come to life. Wasn't too bad. Had a few laughs.
5. The Hitcher (remake) - Sean Bean was a very convincing bad guy. And a very hot one at that. :D There were a few parts that made me want to scream at the chick to tell her how stupid she is, but overall, it wasn't half bad.
6. The Covenant - Wasn't the best movie, but I still enjoyed it. Lots and lots of eye candy. :D
7. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning - Such crap. I can't believe I wasted my time with this one. Plus I've never liked any of these TCM movies. Blah.

Books
7. Brother Odd - Dean Koontz - Not as good as the first, but still a good read. I wonder how many more he'll write.
8. Tell No One - Harlan Coben - Was a mystery-type story with many twists and turns. Liked it. :D
9. Real Murders - Charlaine Harris - The first book in the Aurora Teagarden series. About a librian who belongs to a club that likes to study real murders. Liked it very much.
10. A Kiss of Shadows - Laurell K. Hamilton - The first book in the Merry Gentry series. Basically just PWP. Seriously. Two words: Tentacle sex. I'll finish out this series because I'm weird like that.
11. Heaven - Season 1 - Mur Lafferty - the description directly from Podiobooks.com: What if Heaven wasn't all it's cracked up to be? Friends Kate and Daniel find that after their untimely deaths, Heaven leaves them dissatisfied and itching for something... else. So they're off, with a passport to discover more afterlifes, heroes and gods. During their adventures, they find out that their travel isn't a journey taken on a whim, but may be orchestrated, or even prophesied. I'm actually starting to like audiobooks. They give me something to do while playing the Sims or on the Wii. I really liked this one!

I hated having to jump to a different series when I still have the Anita Blake series to finish. The stupid library doesn't have Burnt Offerings and I haven't been able to get out to the mall to buy it yet. I hate buying books. I rarely reread them anyway. What's the sense in buying one that I know I'll only read once? I was thinking of just getting it and donating it to the library when I'm done. I hate that they have unfinished series. Stupid library.

Now to TV talk!
The Dresden Files and Battlestar Galactica started tonight! YAY for new shows! Love them both. Heroes starts back tomorrow! *is excited* I hate that it's on at the same time as 24. That's what VCRs or DVRs are for, I suppose. Veronica Mars starts back up on Tuesday, right? I came across this article (in ONTD, I'm sure) that says VM will be "temporarly displaced" by some stupid ass Pussycat Dolls reality show on March 6. WTF are you thinking, CW?!?! Crazy.
In other news, SGA starts back up in April. I love that show. and You tube. So they killed off Dr. Beckett. Honestly, I don't care. I liked Carson, but once he went into 'doctor-mode', he got on my nerves. I have never liked the doctor characters in sci-fi shows. I've heard that Jewel Staite will be the new doctor. I like her - I hope I don't hate her character.

And I think that's it.

We went to The Park today to celebrate Bradley's birthday (that was last Friday). The Park is this lame entertainment center in Jackson. We played mini-golf badly. Rode go-carts - my first time in a go-cart, btw, and they give me a crappy one - it wouldn't speed up at all - they all passed me like 3 times! Watched Bradley, Chris and Raymond (nephew, nephew, friend) ice skate and fall repeatedly. That was fun. :D Then we decided to play Laser-Tag - and I totally suck at it. Did the bumper car thing. That made me sick to my stomach - but it was my own fault.

We left at around 8:45. Wanted to eat at Arby's, but the damn place closes at 9! Ended up eating greasy-ass pizza at Mazzio's. So now, hours later, I've got an upset stomach. Boo.

Finished another book and watched another movie. 2 more movies, actually.
Book:
(6) The Hard Goodbye - Frank Miller. Sin City graphic novel. Read it in like 30 minutes. Was about Marv and Goldie. :D

Movies:
(2) Devour - starred Jensen Ackles. Was incredibly weird. And a bit disturbing. And really hard to explain. Wouldn''t really recommend it unless you're a hard-core Jensen fan.

(3) Stick It - Bring It On, but with gymnastics. Wasn't too bad. I giggled a few times. Bring It On's better. :D

And now, I will take some Tylenol PM and go my sleepy ass to bed. *nods*

So, I've finished 5 books already. Only watched one new movie. I really really need to get to the theater to see Children of Men, but it's only playing at Tinseltown (that's like an hour away!). :( I suppose I'll just have to wait for DVD.

Anyway, the books:
1. The Killing Dance by Laurell K. Hamilton. Another Anita Blake book. Same as all the others, but I still like them. I'm a bit ticked because the stupid library doesn't have the next book in the series. I really don't want to skip one. :(
2. Shakespeare's Champion by Charlaine Harris. The 2nd Lily Bard book. It's not 'supernatural' like the other books I read. It's mostly a mystery. Liked it. :D
3. Club Dead by Charlaine Harris. Another Sookie Stackhouse book. She's a barmaid who has telepathic powers and is in love with a vampire. I love these books.
4. Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris. And another Sookie book. Still love them!
5. Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris. Ditto.

Next up: Brother Odd by Dean Koontz, Next by Michael Crichton, The Hard Goodbye and A Dame to Kill For by Frank Miller. Unless I get to the library this week. :D

The movie:
1. Clerks 2. I laughed a few times. Not many. I ended up fast forwarding though a couple parts.

I have a few more movies to watch - like The Wicker Man(remake) and a movie with Jensen Ackles called Devour I think. I may do that tomorrow night. I meant to watch them tonight, but I started fiddling with the layout at jackman_stills. I like it very much. :D

Speaking of layouts, I've changed mine. It's nothing special - just one of those Style Contest things. It'll do until I find or make something better.

I have a new addiction. It's called Animal Crossing. I love that freaking game. :D Also, I started playing Trauma Center on the Wii. It's actually kinda fun. I'm stuck on this one part though, where you have to do something with a bent bone. I can't get it to do what it needs to do before the things drop it. :( I'm sure that makes a lot of sense, but I totally can't think of what those stupid things are called.

I think that's it. I almost wanted to talk about some of my feelings, but I think I'll keep them to myself. Wouldn't want anyone to actually find out what a selfish bitch I really am. Also, I need new icons. These are getting old!

I have a few books and movies for my lists.
Books:
59. Bloody Bones by Laurell K. Hamilton - yeah, another Anita Blake book. I liked it, but I like stuff like this. How long is it supposed to be before I get to all the OMGPORN books? I heard it gets pretty bad later on in the series.

60. Shakespeare's Landlord by Charlaine Harris - This is the first book in the Lily Bard series. I like this author. Her books are sufficiently weird enough for my tastes. :D

Movies:
127. See No Evil - A group of juvenile delinquents get sent to clean up a run down hotel before it opens as a shelter of some kind. Evil killer guy lives in said hotel. He kills many of the delinquents. Also, Evil Killer Guy is played by a wrestler named Kane. Yes, this is a WWE Film. Now I HATE wrestling and almost everything having to do with wrestling (the one exception - The Rock. I love him for some reason), but I actually liked this movie. It wasn't anything special, but it exceeded my expectations. Not hard to do since I expected it to be complete and utter crap.

128. Hard Candy - I'd describe this movie, but I don't think I can do it without spoiling it for others who want to watch it. This plot summary from imdb.com isn't that spoilery though. I did like it, but it could have ended better.

Anyone else not really in the Holiday spirit? I'm just not feeling it. I do know what I'm getting though. A lovely 30GB video/mp3 player. Creative Zen, not iPod. And it's pink! I could have gotten one of those new Zune things, but I opted for this one instead (it was 50 bucks cheaper! yay for sales at amazon.com!) Did I mention it's pink? :D LMAO - I just checked the amazon.com page for it and it's gone up 30 bucks! Sure glad I got it when I did. I was also supposed to get a $20 gift card/credit thing for Amazon UnBox with it. I hope I won't have to do too much fiddling with all my media (video and music) for it. I already have a large amount of .m4a files that I'm sure I'll have to convert. But still, YAY!

Movies (if I can remember half of them):
123. Casino Royale - loved it. Love Daniel Craig. Can't wait for more. :D
124. The Fountain - Honestly, it was a pretty movie, but I still couldn't tell you what it was about - not exactly anyway.
125. Casanova - the Heath Ledger version. Was ok - only watched it so there'd be some noise while I was playing Sims.
126. Book of Love - only watched it because of Simon Baker. The whole time I was like "WTF is going on?" I still don't know.

Shit. I know there are more! Oh well. I'll just have to make sure to watch 24 more movies in December. Shouldn't be too hard with all the tv shows going on hiatus.

Books:
55. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon - was very different from all the other books I've been reading lately.
56. Shadow Puppets - Orson Scott Card - more Bean. :D
57. Grave Sight - Charlaine Harris - Book 1 in the Harper Connelly series. Harper finds dead bodies. That's her thing - like Sookie Stackhouse can read minds. I liked it very much, but I'm weird, you know.
58. Night Pleasures - Sherrilyn Kenyon - Vampire porn. Seriously. Would you expect anything different from the title?

So all the fall finales (tv shows) have been pretty interesting. And disappointing. But mostly interesting. Having Mercer actually be the rapist was a let down. I was hoping it would be that irritating TA (Tom?). Also, killing the Dean? Sucked. I liked the Dean! I suppose the blame will fall on Weevil. I am glad they didn't kill Mac. Or Piz. He's grown on me. I think VM was the only one I wanted to talk about. Oh, and Ugly Betty? Team Henry all the way. :D

And since I'm an extremely boring person, I'll end it there. :D

Have a few books/movies for my lists.

Books:
(50) World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks - was quite good. I like the format - made for a very quick read.

(51) Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris - Another Sookie Stackhouse book - vampires and mindreaders. Just mindless fluff. Love it.

(52) Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card - Another "Ender" book. Was ok - a bit too "political" for my tastes, but still readable.

(53) The Lunatic Cafe by Laurell K. Hamilton - another Anita Blake:Vampire Hunter book. Yeah, more vampires. I've been bored with "normal" books. Need more fantasy. So yeah, vampires, zombies, werewolves, etc... Love it.

(54) A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon - I'm finally finished with this series - this is the last book, right? Loved these books, even the slow ones. I recommend them to anyone who likes time-travel/romance/historical fiction. Not sure how accurate the history part is - I totally used to daydream in American History class.

Movies:
(118) Feast - A family of monsters attack a bar. I liked it very much, though no one else who watched it with me did. It was a very perverted movie, but in a funny sort of way. And it was pretty disgusting.

(119) The Prestige - Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as rival magicians. Loved it. Figured it all out like the second before they showed it. *pokes icon* :D

(120) Near Dark - vampire movie with Adrian Pasdar, Lance Hendrikson and Bill Paxton - was not bad. According to the boards on imdb, they're (Rogue Pictures, I think it said) remaking it. I swear, this is like the decade of remakes.

(121) The Lake House - That love story with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Was ok. Did they ever explain the whole mailbox thing?

(122) Rest Stop - Chick gets tormented/stalked/whatever by some guy in a old Ford truck. Watched it on Sci-Fi one night. Wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't good. It's one of those that make you want to yell at the girl and tell her how stupid she is. I think I'd like to watch it again, like on DVD, because I'm sure I missed something.

I'd hit the 150 mark if I'd just sit down and watch the dozen or so DVDs that I haven't seen - Domino, Brokeback Mountain, Jarhead just to name a few. I'll probably make myself do that soon.

Now time for TV stuff!

Sunday:
Desperate Housewives - I haven't been too happy with this season so far, but I LOVED the market episode. Still wish they'd get rid of Susan. Can't stand her.

Monday:
Prison Break - it's a bit slow this season. I figured it would be. They'll be going on hiatus later this month I think. I still don't get why Michael tattooed all that stuff on himself - the "map" I understand, but all the other stuff, he probably could have just remembered.

Heroes - LOVE this show. Hiro is my favorite. :D I don't think the Horn-Rimmed Glasses guy is as evil as they're making him out to be.

Studio 60 - I liked it at first. Now it just bores me. And I want to bitch-slap that Harriet chick. Hate her. Wouldn't break my heart if they cancelled it.

Tuesday: (wow.. 6 freaking shows. Tuesdays are busy!)
NCIS - Still love this show. I'd choose it over almost any other show on Tuesdays. Even House.

House - I'm getting a little bored with it. It just doesn't have the spark it did in the first season. I am enjoying the cop plot though. I love that guy. So can't think of his name. :(

Veronica Mars - This season's been a bit slow, but I still enjoy it. Any news about it being picked up for the rest of the season yet?

Law & Order: CI - I still like this show, but I think Bobby is going to leave/be written out/whatever before the end of the season. :(

Law & Order: SVU - My favorite of the 3. Don't like Elliot's new partner.

Nip/Tuck - This season's been complete crap so far. Can't stand the new owners. Or I should say owner. So boring. The only good ep so far has been the one with Escobar.

Wednesday:
Jericho - I hear it will be going on hiatus sometime this month. Won't be back on until Feb. They're trying to ruin my Wednesdays, aren't they? Anyway. I love this show.

Lost - This season hasn't been all that good. The Others storyline is boring me. I think I'm one of the rare few that think the hiatus will end up being a good idea. Hopefully it'll get better once it comes back.

Criminal Minds - Love this show. Glad they got rid of that one chick (Emma? I can't remember). Will be watching this (instead of recording) if DayBreak is as bad as it looks.

DayBreak - I will watch this tonight. It's probably gonna be bad. I wonder how many people will watch it just for the special Lost previews.

The Nine - I no longer watch this. The first episode was good, but after about 3 episodes, I realized I just don't care. I do leave it on in the background while I play the Sims - there's nothing else on.

Kidnapped - was originally on Wednesdays, moved to Saturday, then cancelled. Not really cancelled because you can watch the episodes on NBC.com. I just found that out today. If I can get it to work, I will continue to watch it. I'm just curious as to who kidnapped the boy and why.

Thursday:
Smallville - Yes, it's cheesy, but I love Lex. Well I did. Not so much this season. Not with him and Lana (Why won't she die already?!?!). I love the Green Arrow. He's kinda hot. :D

Ugly Betty - I like it, but I probably wouldn't be too upset if it were cancelled. I don't really like watching people be humiliated on a regular basis (That's one reason I refuse to watch American Idol).

Supernatural - Still diggin' the Winchester bros. Love it.

CSI - Kinda bored with it. Hate Gil and Sara together. Hate Nick's hair (or lack of). Not enough Greg. Too much Catherine and Sara. I almost wonder why I still watch it.

Grey's Anatomy - It's been slow this season. Not sure how I feel about it.

Friday:
Doctor Who - Love it.

Battlestar Galactica - Love it muchly.

Las Vegas - Blah. I only half-watch it. I always end up playing the Sims when it's on.

Numb3rs - Blah again. It's interesting, but it's all the same!

So that's only 4 new shows I've picked up this season. I've tried watching other ones, like Six Degrees and Brothers and Sisters, but they just didn't grab my attention. I watch too much tv. Especially on Tuesdays. It's a wonder my VCRs haven't died yet.

Anyway. My birthday is this Friday. Woo. Will be going to see Casino Royale, even if I have to go to Clinton by myself.

Speaking of movies this weekend, I'd kill to get to go to Horrorfest. Totally sucks because the only theater in Mississippi showing them is in Gulfport! I even checked for theaters in Louisiana - all of them participating in Horrorfest are roughly 4 hours away. Why didn't any of the handful of theaters in the Jackson-area not pick this up? I'd seriously go see all 8 of the films if I could. This is one of the reasons Mississippi sucks.

And I think that's it for now. I have other things to do before bed.

Book:
(49) The Fiery Cross - Diana Gabaldon. Only one more to go before I'm done with this series. Honestly, I'm a little tired of it. The series lost its grip on me after the 3rd book. Not sure why though. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for it anymore. Anyway. The book was ok. Long, but ok. I have a serious crush on Roger, but that could be because I picture Gerard Butler as Roger while I'm reading. Yeah.

I find it immensely amusing that my 50th book will be World War Z. Why, I don't know. *points to self* Easily amused.

Movie:
(117) Saw III - Caught the 10pm showing last night. Was about like the last one. I hope they end with this one.

I'm sad that I haven't been able to see The Departed or The Prestige yet. I say yet in the hopes of maybe going this week to see at least one of them. It'd be much easier if they opened here in town. The Departed did, but I didn't get the chance to see it - the movie theater here doesn't open until after 5pm after the school year starts. They're both still playing in Clinton though.

I hope the theater here will show Casino Royale opening weekend. It opens on my birthday, and going to see it will be my present to myself. :D I love Daniel Craig and James Bond movies.

In other news, I upgraded my video card in my lovely computer. It's not top of the line by any means, but I can play the Sims with all graphic settings on high (My Sims have fingers now!!!) with no problems. I have also purchased the Open for Business expansion pack. It's ok. I kinda wish I had saved my money and bought the Pets EP instead.

And that's what I've been doing with my time. Well, that and playing Justice League Heroes and God of War. I was pleasantly surprised with Justice League Heroes. It's an actual superhero game I can play without getting sick/dizzy/nauseous/headachy/whatever. It's those jerky camera movements that do it. I'm quite sad that most of the new games I want to play are like that. Like Kingdom Hearts. I've had it for over a year, but I haven't played it because after 10 minutes, I want to vomit.

Have a happy Halloween! I'm all jealous of those of you who get to dress up. I wanted to get all zombified and walk around town moaning, but alas, I cannot. Well I could but I'd be alone and that's just no fun.
