Jigsaw Man Kindle Edition

5.0 out of 5 stars (1)

We don't know who he is at first, and he isn't sharing much. He is an observer of the people he passes as he walks through the town, invisible to most, or so he wishes. It seems like a game he is playing with himself. But it isn't a game at all. He is at the lowest point in his life, having lost his partner in life and work, and he is haunted by a fateful decision he made while on the force that cost him his career and his will to live. He believes he is dying, plagued by pains in his stomach, and so, he is waiting for death to catch up with him. He stumbles onto the scene of a murder and, at first, all he cares about is grabbing some money from the dead man's wallet, but he notices a young boy who may have witnessed the crime, and has seen him do something to the man. Each time he lets himself get involved in a situation, it draws him in, deeper and deeper into a web of intrigue and deceit, where even his most astute observations can be deceiving. Wanting out, but feeling drawn in, he fights against his natural instincts and training to try to solve much more than a murder. If he can find all the pieces to this puzzle, he might just find his way back to his former life, or something new, and even more deadly.

I began my writing journey banging on a Royal portable typewriter in my basement at night, so I wouldn't disturb my parents. The great thing about writing is you never really know how good or how bad your writing is. Completing the sentence, paragraph, page, or chapter was its own reward, encouraging me to keep going. I believe failure and rejection are motivators for me. Of course, having someone I care about love my story makes all the difference in the world. I had that for most of my life, but lost it when my wife passed away. I was mired in grief, but I had promised her I would keep writing. Now, without her feedback, I depend on professional help and my readers to keep my on track. I'm still fighting back tears, but now I get to cry and laugh along with my characters.
