Charmed by the Fox Prince: A Rapunzel Retelling (Once Upon a Fairy Tale Romance Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars (146)

Inspired by Rapunzel, a romantic fairy tale retelling...

I’ve been locked in a tower for as long as I can remember. The memories of my former life were taken from me by the Goblin Witch who holds me captive.

When I’m rescued by a Fox Shifter Prince, he offers to take me back to his kingdom.

Prince Renard claims that I’m his Fated One, and vows to keep me safe from the Witch determined to recapture me.

But I’m hesitant to consider a future with him, when I know nothing of my past. And the more time we spend together, I find myself drawn to him in ways I do not fully understand.

Now I find myself wondering: What would it be like if I allowed myself to fall for my charming Fox Prince?

The seventh and most recent of Grayson’s Once Upon a Romance series follows Rapunzel living in an isolated tower with her cute little animal friend, a squirrel named Finick, living day to day in her tower. Though, with no previous memory of her life before her time in the tower.

When a fox-shifter prince named Ren comes to her tower to seek his fortune, he finds Rapunzel and is eager to help her gain her freedom as well as her memories. From the first time our two characters meet, the both of them can see that there is a connection between them. However, Rapunzel is conflicted as she continues to grapple with gaining her lost memories as she feels she cannot get close to Ren without fully understanding whether who she is is who she once was. Nevertheless, all this angst makes their ending worthwhile.

It was also interesting to see that Grayson wrote a male character with insecurities surrounding a physical disfigurement he has. As we often see this written in female characters and not enough in male, showing that men can be vulnerable and allowing for there to be awareness regarding the gender stereotypes that we still see in today’s society.

I liked this alot overall. The mmc is very likeable and his personality and dialogue were done well. He was flawed and not all powerful which is refreshing. The only thing I noticed was it needed to be edited a little better. There was some confusion at first on Drisulla at first being described as a wood elf but then later human and some Grammer issues. Over all though I really enjoyed this book. The spice doesn't happen until the end but it paced well enough that it wasn't a problem.

I have been waiting for this book and I am so happy! Rapunzel is one of my favorite princesses and I was so happy to get this sweet and steamy retelling. There are a lot of similarities between the original story but a lot of differences too. I loved Ren and his devotion to Rapunzel. There are some new characters and I hope we get their stories soon! Absolutely a great and sweet read. Loved how Rapunzel was a little naive but also very strong. I loved seeing the relationship grow and develop and wasn’t just an instalove situation.

This is a great retelling of Rapunzel, giving us more of the after the tower happenings. Prince Ren is such a charmer and remains in character throughout the story. Rapunzel on the other hand has a period of princess entitled behavior that will have you screaming at her, Enough already! Love Finik and his role in the story, not just his cuteness. And, can we now have a story for Prince Rowan, please?!

Ok couldn't resist wagging my tail. Ok I don't have a tail but this story is sooo good Ren and Rapunzel were a tangled twist of hairy escapes biting excitement sly enchantments and a goblin witch wrapped up and taken care of. Thank you for a happy ever after. Twins figures they would have a litter. Howling good tale

Jessica never disappoints and her books are always worth waiting for. Charmed by the Fox Prince is no exception: a lovely adult version of Rapunzel, with a delicate but determined heroine trying to (re)discover her past, while falling under the amorous spell of a mischievous but caring fox shifter prince. The vibe of the romance is cozy spyce, but with all the adventures that characterize Jessica's other fairy tales. And I just love the cameos from the characters in the other books in the series. In this one, in particular, we also have the future protagonists of the version of Sleeping Beauty that Jessica is writing, I can't wait for its. In addition to the beautiful and colorful love story, the author has a gift for creating imaginative and rich fantasy universes. I am increasingly surprised by the variety of characters that appear in the stories, such as the stag shifters in Charmed. The bonus is that I immediately begin to imagine what stories Jessica will create for them. Anyway, I can only recommend reading Charmed to anyone looking for a break from dark fantasy romance and expecting a cozy read, with captivating characters and that doesn't disappoint in creating an engaging fantasy universe.

Female perspective on shared account with hubs. Disappointed it took forever to come out and was constantly changing dates. The fmc was beyond nieve and childish. The sex scenes were cringy. Not worth the wait I was skipping chapters just to finish. Then to get an extra epilogue hoping the end it atleast wrapped up you give your email to sign up for a newsletter. Then there's a bonus epiligue for every book BUT this one. So it was a waste to get spammed by the authors newsletters. To each their own. I like some of the authors other stuff so i had high hopes.

'He broke into my home. So, I shouldn’t be noticing how utterly gorgeous he is... But oh gods, I am noticing. And it’s doing something terribly unsettling and yet exciting in the same measure as my heart beats wildly in my chest.
I swallow hard, my mouth suddenly dry. Even the heroes in my favorite romance novels pale in comparison to this man.
I’m drawn to him, though I can’t quite understand why. He's beautiful in a wild, dangerous sort of way.'

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I love Fairy Tale retellings! A Rapunzel retelling is one I've rarely- if ever- read, so I was excited for it. The story is interesting from the start and I was immediately hooked, of course. I loved her first meeting Ren. The attraction between them was very mutual. He was immediately charming and flirty, recognizing her as his mate. And she recognizes his eyes are those she's dreamt about countless times. I liked the banter and the different customs between them as he is a fox shifter and she human. I was fascinated by her history- what she knows of it- and her fragmented past. I loved learning more about these two over the course of their journey, his efforts to prove himself worthy to be her mate, and the two of them falling in love. I also LOVE animal pets/sidekicks, so Rapunzel's squirrel Finik always made me smile. 5 stars.
