A Partridge In Sunshine Bay Kindle Edition
A Heartwarming Christmas Romance of Healing, Hope, and Holiday Magic
Someone’s leaving gifts on her tree. Is it a Christmas miracle—or a gentle reminder that she’s not as alone as she thinks?
After the loss of her beloved husband, Vivian wants nothing more than to spend Christmas alone. The lights, the music, the cheer—it’s all too much this year. But her daughter and grandson have other plans. So do her kind-hearted neighbors… and a trouble-making dog named Neville.
Then something unexpected happens.
One morning, an ornament appears on the pear tree outside her window—just like the ones her husband used to hang. The next day, another. And another. One for each of the twelve days leading up to Christmas.
Who’s leaving these heartfelt gifts? And can they help Vivian find her way back to hope?
As Vivian slowly begins to rediscover the spirit of the season, her daughter faces a crossroads of her own: Should she stay with the safe, steady love she’s known for years—or follow her heart toward the man she never truly forgot?
Full of warmth, wonder, and second chances, A Partridge in Sunshine Bay is a feel-good holiday novel perfect for fans of small-town charm, uplifting women’s fiction, and sweet romance with a touch of mystery.

About the author

Jeanine Lauren is a USA Today bestselling author who crafts heartwarming women’s fiction and sweet romances, blending friendship, love, and second chances. Though she spent much of her life writing for work, school, and those never-ending to-do lists (admit it, we all have them), Jeanine found her true passion in creating stories that feel like coming home.
In 2019, she took a leap and published Love’s Fresh Start, the first book in her Sunshine Bay series, and she’s been making up for lost time ever since, bringing readers back to this beloved small town for stories filled with warmth and possibility.
Jeanine lives near the breathtaking coastline of British Columbia, not far from the fictional town of Sunshine Bay, where love and community are always in season. - Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2025Format: KindleA beautifully written holiday read. It will have you feeling all the feels and will pull at your heartstrings. You'll laugh, you'll cry but it's so worth it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2024Format: KindleThis book is really great. It is really sad at times and gives us a glimpse of how it is when you become older. A lot of times your spouse might have passed away before and you miss his companionship, your kids do not come and visit. They might call you but even the one that lives in the same town as you rarely visits. You rarely get to see the grandkids but love it when you do. The kids say they hate to see me so sad. I get them depressed when they come to see me. All excuses! I know their lives are busy and I do not want all of their time, just share some time with me please. Include me in some of your activities, even if is just taking me with you to go grocery shopping. Give me something to live for please.
Here it is almost Christmas time again. My husband uses to love Christmas and everything about it. The decorating, the shopping for gifts, wrapping the presents, the dinners where all of the family gets together. But this year he is gone, he passed of cancer right after Christmas last year. So this year I can just not face it without him. I feel like I have lost everything including the will to live. I have a housekeeper that comes in to do the cleaning but she is not doing her job properly.
My daughter, the one that lives here in town is going with her husband on vacation. Her sister is coming to be with me and my grandson will be here too as he has school and can not go on vacation right now. Their dog Neville is going to be staying with one of my neighbors. Such a cute little dog but he always seems to get under people's feet.
Vivian has totally lost all of her Christmas spirit and spends a lot of time just staring out of the window. It seems as if she is just waiting to die. Her daughter, grandson and a few neighbors make it their mission to bring her back to us. Just get her involved in what she loves to do, her grandson asks her to give him cooking lessons. And the magical thing that happens is gifts start appearing on her door step. One a day for the 12 days of Christmas. Does she have a secret admirer? Who is the mystery gift giver?
- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2024Format: KindleI read this because the FMC in the description shared my name, and that's such a rarity that I simply HAD to support the author.
This is an ARC review, but the opinion is my own, freely, and honestly, given with no incentives.
As the title says, this is a multifaceted tapestry of intermingling storylines and characters that are all related, but woven together beautifully. I'm afraid to spoil anything if I dive in, but I'll try 😅
Claudia and Alex have their lives in the city, but are they really happy anymore?
Vivian takes a life altering fall, and is struggling with grief and depression.
Karen is overwhelmed with taking care of her mom after losing her dad and nearly losing her husband, so takes off to Mexico, calling Claudia in at the last possible moment to care for their mom.
Family secrets, old hurts, grief, an ex boyfriend with questionable motives, and anonymous gifts make for a beautifully woven tapestry of familial love and community support that reminded me of the old hallmark Christmas movies.
It was a very good read. I didn't realize it was so short, honestly. It was so descriptive and immersing. A nice afternoon (or midmorning in my case) read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2024Format: KindleA Partridge in Sunshine Bay is a beautiful holiday read that pulled at my heartstrings and left me a tear-stained mess.
I really enjoyed learning about Vivian and the amazing life and love she and her husband shared. Carrying on after he passed away is the hardest thing Vivian has to do, and she doesn’t want to. Drowning in grief, it takes family, friends, and a few surprises to remind Vivian of her purpose and help recapture her holiday spirit.
The characters are easily relatable and the storyline is heartwarming and hopeful. I’d definitely visit Sunshine Bay again.
While the holiday season brings happiness and joy to many, for others it’s a tough time of year. Whether it’s grieving a loss, remembering a hurtful past, or when loneliness is at its loudest. This story recognizes that pain and repurposes it into hope.
I highly recommend A Partridge in Sunshine Bay to all readers.
I read a NetGalley ARC, this is my honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2024Format: Kindle. This is a heartwarming holiday read about finding the spirit of Christmas even when one has suffered tragedy and setbacks. Vivian Woolf has lost her husband and just fallen when the pesky neighborhood dog Neville trips her. When she gets dehydrated, her youngest daughter Claudia is called to take care of her..Claudia returns to Sunshine Bay and meets up with her ex who broke her heart when he left for Australia many years ago.Claudia is at a crossroads herself after finding out her boyfriend Alex is interviewing for a new job after she just received a promotion. Then small gifts for Vivian keep arriving on the 12 days before Christmas just like when her husband was alive.Who is behind this? This book has lots of holiday excitement and love wrapped up in this perfect Christmas read.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2024Format: KindleReally enjoyed this heart warming story that covered a little bit of everything from drama to family to romance. Your main characters were easy to like and very down to earth; Vivian the Widow facing her first Christmas without her husband Ned. Vivian's daughter Claudia who was questioning her relationship with her boyfriend Alex and old time high school flame Clint. Of these two gentleman am glad that Claudia chose who she did, as I believe he was the best, too.
Hats off for handling the grief that goes with the loss of your significant other, especially during the Christmas season, as you did with Vivian. This proved to be a great, realistic story with lots of family and compassion throughout,
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
