About the author

Pippa Greathouse has been publishing for years, with books in several genres; historical fiction, paranormal, and most include romantic mystery and suspense.
A note from Pippa...
It all started with an assignment from my beautiful and elegant fifth grade teacher, Mrs. J, who had our class write a short story and then read it aloud.
So, I did. The story began with a group of my friends and classmates, who went on a fictitious camping trip.
Enter a grizzly bear. As it attacked the camp and body parts began flying, I looked up.
Poor Mrs. J! A twitch had appeared somewhere around her left eye, and she looked horrified. But she kept quiet and let me finish.
By the time the story ended, she was white as a sheet. And she never, ever again asked me to read one of my stories aloud.
But my friends all thought it was cool, so the stories kept coming.
And I was hooked.
~Pippa

- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2024Format: KindleThe story is another great addition to The Damsels of Shenandoah County, which can read as a standalone, but even better in written order of the series. Lucy Grace “Gracie” Kennedy meets Billy the Bully Becker when she tries to get home through a heavily wooded area when she is a young girl of seven.
He is impressed with her fortitude and attitude and helps her find her way to her family’s home. Billy was unjustly accused and expelled from school by a bully teacher, one who also tried to cane Lucy Grace. It is now 1860, eleven years later, and Gracie Kennedy is returning to Shenandoah after studying art in Philadelphia. Billy no longer uses that name and instead is Deputy Sheriff William Becker.
The story is full of mystery, suspense, and unsolved thefts in the ladies' boarding house, as well as, some of the local businesses. It will be up to William to help solve the crimes, and he will use the beginning of unproven but innovative science of fingerprints, even if at this time, it isn’t inadmissible in a court of law.
The plot will have William eliminating various ladies by comparing fingerprints from some of the stolen items and using a drinking glass from meals. While Gracie is new to the ladies' dormitory, she, along with Louise and Helena is quickly eliminated. But someone is placing stolen items in another person’s trunk trying to make them look guilty. As the game of cat and mouse plays out, so does the beginnings of a relationship between William and Gracie. He finds himself dealing with this beautiful but ornery girl and calls her his beast and his brat.
The story has a large cast of characters, many of them from previous stories, and a focus on the ladies at the dormitory. There is a threat made against the children of two prominent families that will add another layer of intense scenes. Dominant men, strong-willed ladies, along with life and death situations. Secrets will be revealed; friendships will be formed, and several romances are in the making. The story involves power exchange and has several OTK spankings and one intimate scene after a wedding.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2024Format: KindleA simply wonderful addition to series, great characters and a wonderful scenario
This has been another simply wonderful addition to the Shenandoah County series and I have to say that the character Gracie was simply wonderful.
Billy Becker is quite a character and the moment that he is responsible for rescuing seven year old Gracie and tiny little thing that would be responsible for changing his life and this book is simply wonderfully written and I guarantee that you will be so glad that you have read this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2024Format: KindleThis is book four of the Damsels of Shenandoah County. I liked the story, but I will say that William is overbearing. Before he and Gracie even have started a relationship, he is demanding her submission. I liked the mystery of who was stealing items from different shop owners and people, and I was quite a ways into the story before I figured out who the culprit was. I will say I didn't have a clue as to the reason why the culprit was acting out until the end. The ending was satisfying, and I look forward to the next story.
