Lemon Pie by Lucinda: Old Timey Holiday Kitchen Book 4 Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars (120)

She secretly loves him. Marrying Ty should be the happiest day of her life, except…

Two ladies named Lucinda. Lucy never uses her full name and is surprised when Rev. Caldwell calls her Lucinda at the pie auction.
She's even more surprised when Ty Goodson bids on her pie. He's never shown her a bit of interest, and whoever wins her pie will share the dessert with her.

What follows is a series of misadventures and a night spent in a cave. That night with each other leads them into a forced marriage—a shotgun marriage with Ty’s rancher father doing the forcing.

How will Lucy win the love of her husband when he longs for a different Lucinda? And what about the men chasing Ty and Lucy? Will they return?

Once again, Marisa Masterson, has written a sweet, heartwarming historical romance. I have been looking forward to reading this and was not disappointed. The characters of this book are believable and likable. This book made me laugh, made me cry and drew me in from the beginning. Lucy and Ty are forced into marriage after spending the night in a cave together. This story takes you through the ups and downs of a young couple struggling to make their marriage work, when a series of events keep pushing them apart. This is definitely a story you will want to read. Also the recipe for lemon pie sounds delicious.

Anyone wanting to read a nice clean book. Here it is. I enjoyed this book very much. I'm pretty sure you will too.

This is a good American historical romance, with likable characters. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars.

I thought it was just too short to have enough character development. I wanted more backstory on both Lucy and Ty.

I liked both Lucy and Ty, but did think he was a bit of an idiot at first. He liked the snobby "mean" girl, simply because she was beautiful and good at flirting, and he was oblivious to just how awful she really was. Once he started paying attention to Lucy, though, he realized how many good qualities she had -- and realized that she was much more lovable. After they married, he actually ended up being a good husband to Lucy, but he did have to learn to tell her how much he cared.

The whole matchmaking scheme part of this story was a bit unbelievable -- partly because both Lucy and Ty would have realized the situation was too convenient, and also because Ty's mother was a little too happy about the forced marriage. I also thought both Lucy and Ty would have balked at a forced marriage more than they did. It was a creative way to bring the couple together, though.

The premise of the series, with each story having a special recipe that the h makes, is a lot of fun. I plan to try some of them, since they sound delicious.

This is a clean romance, with nothing but kisses. If you only want to read romances that do not include sex scenes, this one might work for you.

    My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Sweet story with a slow development of romance. Parents doing the matchmaking can sometimes be a good thing, at least in this case. I loved the arrival of the bath tub part. Great story

Sometimes our parents do know best. Lucy has loved Ty from afar. She gets the chance to make some memories to hold close to her heart, not realising it was going to to end so much differently than she expected.

What mischief these people create! I appreciate Ty's resolve to love his wife, regardless of why or who he married!
Another delightful book, is this marvelous series!

I enjoyed this fun romance about a couple brought together for their own good and the good of the family. Only, there was some glitches in the plan that caused havoc. Fun characters. A delightful read.

This is a really sweet story about a mixup which turns out not to be a mixup at all.
It a shortish story which packs quite a lot into it. It reads very nicely with a few twists, a kidnapping and some underhanded doings for Lucy and Ty's own good as well as a lovely, blossoming romance.
Before I end off, I just want to mention that this series' name amuses me greatly. 😋
I enjoyed reading an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) very much and my review is given voluntarily.
