    Definitely a 5-star! The writer's story-telling will draw you in and take you away from reality and into the world she's created for you to enjoy. Great read if you want to "get away" for a while and the Kindle version was a terrific way to go. Have fun reading this book - I most definitely did!

    When Fletcher has been gone for almost ten years, it is assumed at Seabrook that he is dead. Kyndee is forced into an unwanted marriage with Buck Bannistre, the very cousin who orchestrated Fletcher's kidnapping. Although Kyndee pines for her lost love, she marries Buck at her fathers' request and saves her family from monetary peril.

    As his memory slowly returns, Fletcher reappears in his hometown as the mysterious Zachary Brown.     When Buck's parents were killed in a fire, he went to live with his cousin Fletcher and aunt and uncle. However, Buck was jealous of everything Fletcher had and resolved to take it all away from him. He had Fletcher kidnapped and put in an asylum and forgot about him. Over the years, he became the wealthy plantation owner and all that was missing was a wife. He was determined that Fletcher's love, Kyndee, would be his and he used blackmail to attain his desire.

    Fletcher was horribly beaten and near death at the asylum. He was given the name of Zachary Brown and that is the persona he took on. Fletcher was pushed to the back of his mind and overtime, he forgot who he was and where he came from. Almost ten years pass before Fletcher gets his memories back and when he does, he is determined for revenge and to take back what was his.

    But when Fletcher arrives back in town, looking nothing like he did years ago, he keeps a low profile and goes by Zachary. He wants to get the lay of the land before he decides how to proceed. Unfortunately, Kyndee has recently wed Buck and Fletcher is sure she was behind his kidnapping, although he isn't sure why. He still loves her and is determined to make her suffer or get her back.

    But someone in the shadows has another motive. Kyndee's life is in grave danger and Fletcher isn't sure how long he can keep up his ruse before someone's life is taken from them forever. Can he put the hate in his heart to rest to move back into his destined life? Or will he remain the angry and murderous Zachary Brown forever and lose the woman of his dreams?

    Season of the Shadow is an amazing and intriguing romantic suspense! I was captured from page one into the lives of Fletcher and Kyndee and didn't stop until the last page. The characters are complex and realistic, lending authenticity to the time of the story. As the plot develops, the intrigue deepens and there are twists and turns keeping this reader entranced. I totally loved it!!

    I was entranced from the start. I love the way she writes. The characters took form in my mind. I felt like I knew them. I couldn't wait for the times when I could sit and immerse myself in Fletcher and Kyndee's world, each day.

    Beaten and thrown into an insane asylum by his jealous cousin, Fletcher Steadman suffers from amnesia. He escapes during a fire and is nursed back to health by a taciturn minister. Little by little, Fletcher's memory returns and with it, a thirst for revenge. He leaves the minister's home and wanders the West lining his own coffers so that he can return to his home town and oust the usurper to his position and inheritance, and finally marry the love of his life, Kyndee Brock.

    Kyndee has turned away suitors for a decade, hoping against hope that Fletcher would somehow return to her. But when her father tells her that he gambled and lost the family plantation to Fletcher's cousin and the only payment the man will accept in lieu of ruining the family name is her hand in marriage, she agrees to the loveless match, only to realize that Fletcher is alive and has returned home.

    Season of Shadow has engaging characters, excitement, manor houses with secret passages, and page-burning intensity. I highly recommend this book.

    This book is wonderfully romantic, with mysterious twists and turns. It pulls you in more than the typical romance novel. You are drawn to the characters because of the author's clever character development. Readers will love this book. I can't wait for this author's next book.
