Athena feels as if she is going out of her mind. She can't function after losing her fiancé, Justin, in a car accident, or did she? Athena finally meets someone who could possibly give her a chance at love again but can Lucas give her what she needs or is he asking too much of her? When her psychiatrist, Dr. Nick Jasper, shows an interest in her too she feels overwhelmed and confused.

In A Second was a very pleasant read. The three main characters: mother (Carla), grandmother (Grace) and daughter (Athena) who brought to mind The Golden Girls. The novel also deals with clairvoyance which gave it an extra layer of intrigue.

This is both a suspenseful mystery and a warm romance.

This book was started many years ago and only completed in 2020. It came from a dream I had as most of my books. Once I have a title I will fly through the story as the characters take over.One of the characters, Gramma Grace, took over the story more than I had planned. She kept coming forward and exerting pressure on me to tell her story. I think she still wants me to do a book entirely for her. She hasn't bothered me lately since I am into other projects. But I don't doubt she will be back to haunt me in my dreams.I hope you will enjoy this book as well as all my others. Each story I have written I have included strong women in the forefront. Of course I include strong men too who are guided by the woman. Ha! Happy reading!

    This book grabbed me within a second of reading the Prologue. Athena, the main character, is struggling to remember a car accident, the disappearance of a boyfriend, and to understand the unusually protective and harsh attitude of her father. The plot is driven by dreams and memories, and is full of twists, secrets, and strange happenings that kept me thoroughly engaged and wanting more! The characters were well developed and interesting. I especially liked Granny Grace, Athena’s sweet but powerful grandmother. Grace has a few tricks up her sleeve as she tries to protect Athena from harm. In a Second is sure to delight mystery readers everywhere!

    When Athena wakes up in the hospital & asks about her boyfriend Justin, noone will tell her anything. She keeps having dreams or maybe visions of her being in a car accident with Justin's body next to her. She finally gets a call from Justin & they make a date, but he doesn't show up. What happened to him? There are more than a few secrets her parents & grandmother are keeping from her, too. Will these secrets destroy her or clear things up for her?
    J.E. Spina has another mystery hit on her hands!

    Great story! Great characters! When main character, Athena, ends up in the hospital she has many questions and no one seems to want to give her the answers. The more she tries to uncover the truth, the more danger she encounters. Is it her imagination or is someone deliberately hiding the truth? The author, Janice Spina, has created a combination of mystery, suspense, and love. Very good read.
