- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is my first read from this Author but not my last! This book is very detailed and I never actually could have figured out this complex puzzle. The young woman Olivia is complicated.. her past is painful and very sad.. her present isn’t what we are led to believe .. there’s a man “ Uncle” who Olivia sees as her savior but Zac is not that at all. However you won’t quite figure it out until the end. I knew he wasn’t a good man but Wow! Then there is Kit Chain he is a mysterious homeless man that Olivia is captivated by.. later we learn why. This is not a light read. It’s not a quick read and nothing is clear and nothing is as it appears to be. If you like dark, complex , detailed books then I recommend this highly! It’s very well written and emotional. It’s an erotic thriller but in a very unique way . I absolutely was drawn into this and took my time consuming every detail. Excellent read and the ending is as it should be ALL IS REVEALED 😈 I
Bought the paperback and am glad I did ❤️
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is one of those stories that will take your breath away but you can't stop reading. It is dark, twisted, painful and will leave you gasping for more. Olivia is trying to find the Shadow-man and destroy him, maybe then she will be able to leave the darkness behind. With the help of Uncle, who is not really her uncle, can she move from the past. After her father kills himself and her mother dies from cancer, Olivia moves away and starts volunteering at a food kitchen for the homeless. She meets Kit but he doesn't acknowledge her, he doesn't want any friends. They will come to rely on each other more then they will ever realize. And Zac is a different story himself. If you like a great story that is dark and twisted, then this one is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAs always Jaimie hits a home run with this book! I loved the storyline and how the story flowed. There was not a boring page in the book. I smiled, got mad, cried. I think I went through every emotion possible reading this compelling book. I would recommend this book to everyone to read. It is a crazy, tragic, hard as he'll love story you will really love experiencing.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOlivia has suffered the loss of both parents, her mother by cancer and her father through suicide. The only person still in her life is a family friend she's always referred to as Uncle. He has always helped to watch over her and is a very protective and powerful man. Olivia works at a bar at night and volunteers at a local soup kitchen in the mornings. She loves helping the regulars that come to the kitchen and is especially intrigued by one man who never speaks to anyone. One night walking home from the bar, she's attacked and is saved by her mystery homeless man. She and Kit become close but both have secrets that will effect their futures.
I enjoyed the beginning of this story, and I was excited about the whole idea behind the mysterious sexy guy living on the streets who ends up saving the damsel. But mid-way through I started struggling with Olivia's character. She's a touch naive and not a great decision maker. If you're a fan of insta-love, it's here and comes out of nowhere. There's a dark edge to the story which I liked with suspense and secrets that keep you interested.
The character Uncle....what a horrible and CRAZY man! I'm not sure what to think about that strawberry or drug stuff. I've always had an extremely vivid imagination and can roll with whatever plot I read, but I really had to stretch my brain throughout that portion of the story.
Overall, while I didn't love this story, I did like it. Please keep in mind this is my personal review and other readers may/may not agree. For me, it was a solid 3.5 star rating.
It's told from Olivia's POV and does have an ending the readers will enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved Kit & Olivia! This story drew me in from the very beginning and I was not able to put it down. Found myself waking up early in the morning, so I was able to read before my husband got up. Kept going back and forth with Uncle - if I like him or not. I had a feeling that something was up with him but then he would redeem himself by helping Olivia out. Don't want to give anything away - but this is a book that you need to read. Loved the cover and have not been disappointed in any of Jaimie's books.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHaving read Deviant by this author, I knew she was more than capable of writing dark and depraved books. Chained took things up a notch with a tale of murder, betrayal, obsession and passion...but with so many twists and surprises along the way that it kept me on my toes. I WAS able to figure out who Kit really was partway through the book, but that didn't diminish the thrills and excitement and other surprises that we had in store for us as the story came to the final huge explosion of a conclusion.
"Uncle" and Olivia were interesting characters as well (I wanted to strangle Uncle myself) and it seems like this beautiful woman had the ability to cast a spell on every man she came in contact with...quite a feat for someone who was so emotionally damaged.
There were some graphic sexual scenes, rape and violence, but nothing I would consider gratuitous...it was all a necessary part of the story.
Read if you like deeply disturbing books of possession and the horrible things some men will do to own a woman.
**** 4 **** "loving her muse more than life" stars
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseKit and olivia. The story held me captive. As much as it is romantic it has a lot of suspense too. U can never predict what next. Very intriguing and again captivating.
I fell in love with Olivia which is something I rarely do. She's the kind of girl that u'd wish as a friend
As for kit, well he's in a different league. The guy is absolutely beautiful inside and out
Both of them made the story a real success
Thumb up. Must read

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseJaimie Roberts delivers again. Chained was filled with so much emotion, mystery and heartache. You could not help feel you were part of the story. Part way through I put it down as I was like OMG no Uncle is going to completely loose it when he finds out about Kit, but I didn't and I was not disappointed!

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSorry to say so, but I was disappointed. I liked Deviant a Redemption and I was almost sure that I’d like this one as well.
But the story fall short of my expectations and disgusted me even. I found it not believable. There were absurd magic pills and improbable hypnosis effects. The h was not of my liking and the H almost a secondary figure and I couldn't feel any connection with both of them.
UnderestimatedReviewed in the United Kingdom on July 24, 20155.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOmg I loved this story right from the beginning. I had been looking for a great standalone book and my God, I sure got what I was after in this little gem. Personally, I love really dark, twisted, mind blowing.... Just downright evil characters so 'Uncle' fit right in. Another surprise was the rather despicable 'Craig' who actually made me giggle for being so much like someone I actually know, who even has a shirt exactly as described in the book haha. Thank you Jaimie for such a great book which of course I couldn't put down.
