- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI don't even know where to begin with this beauty! The gorgeous cover was what snared me first, followed quickly by the intriguing blurb...but it was the incredible characters that made me fall in love for good.
Suffice it to say, Trey and Esme are couple #goals. From the start, Trey was gentle and kind about Esme's fears and anxieties. He handled each new challenge with grace, and by the time these two made it to their HEA, I believed it and was cheering them on. This was no insta-love situation, though. These two put in the work, and that made the outcome feel even sweeter.
D.L. White pulled off a terrific balancing act with this one. She packed all of that emotional growth into an interesting and engaging plot, and somehow also managed to keep the sexual tension perfectly balanced, too. Quite a feat.
I didn't have a single complaint about this story - it was the perfect romance read and exactly what I hoped it would be. I'll be recommending this one again and again, for sure!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Entertaining; Funny; Great world building; Happily Ever After; Original; Page-turner; Romantic; Realistic; Steamy; Wonderful characters!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe Never List was a really good read. I especially love that there was absolutely no relationship drama between these characters. Just two people who meet and fall in love organically. Esme is a 39 year old virgin who's deathly afraid of almost everything. She's determined to lose her virginity and overcome some of her fears by her 40th birthday so, she make a never list. A list of thing she's never done which, includes sex. Tre is more than happy to help Esme check those items off her list and encourages her become more adventurous. I loved when Esme decides she wants her first time to be with Tre and he finally finds out she's a virgin, he goes above and beyond to make the moment very special for her. Tre was a true gentleman. Even though they were mature in age (my favorite kind of characters), Esme and Tre were an adorable couple. The chemistry and attraction between them was sweet. Tre didn't judge Esme for waiting so late in life to lose her virginity and encouraged her to step outside of her comfort zone and be more spontaneous. It was honorable that Esme chose to wait until she found someone worthy enough to give herself to regardless of how long it took her. The Never List was a sweet love story. The romance was first rate, there were several LOL scenes, and the sex was steamy. I'd highly recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI bought this book when it was released, but thanks to a reading slump courtesy of COVID, I didn’t read it right away. When I finally did start reading it, I was drawn into the story immediately - then the foolishness that was Election 2020 took over everything, and I put it back down again.
Once my mind was clear and my anxiety left the scene, I dug back in. And I was hooked! From the cover, to the plot, to the characters, and the pacing of the story, everything was on point. Esme was a lot initially, but I really, really liked her. And don’t get me started on Trey; handsome, loads of fun and so sweet. And the twins and O’Neal? Hilarious!!!
DL White did her thang with this one! I’ve read most, if not all of her books (and enjoyed them!), but she took her writing to the next level with this book. Keep doing your thing, girl!
This is a must read. Do yourself a favor and practice some self-care by reading this book. You won’t regret it.
Got my fingers crossed that we’ll be seeing fine a** Ken and his NYC boo soon. 😉
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseHow I love, love, LOOOOVED this story. Esme and Trey had so much chemistry. Once their bickering ended, their banter, their affection, and eventually love for one another was absolutely beautiful. I love how Trey cared for Esme, especially as he helped her with the items on her list. A list with stuff on there to help her be a little more adventurous. Trey tackled everything on that list with her. He did it all with patience, care, and love. I love that Esme herself was extremely outspoken, knew what she wanted, and went for what she wanted. I loved her confidence. She was extremely loveable, and I love how she was with Trey. They fit extremely well together. This was a super fun read. I loved every page. DL.White’s writing style is captivating, and I’m enjoying the hell out of her catalog.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseYooo! This was a good one, I'm so glad that this cover captured my sights because it's so beautiful just like the story that's inside of it. I love this one, I couldn't put it down and I just finished it. Wow. I love it. Period.
Now about the story Esme was a real b*tch for real in the beginning, 🤣 but she eventually got it together. Trey didn't make it easy for her to stop being b*tch but it's really nice they finally came to common grounds.
Not gonna lie I feel like O'Neal should've been gay. He was giving me those vibes but maybe it was just me. Anyway, I don't want to give anything away in the story just want the next folks that order this book to enjoy as much as I have. I'm just so glad to read a book that doesn't have unnecessary drama in it. I needed something soft and sweet like this.
I'm just gonna say, I love this book and I'm glad I bought it. It almost made me believe in love again, just a little 🤏 bit.

Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt took me a while to warm to Esme and Trey, but I am glad I stuck with them. Having content warnings on every chapter was an offputting choice, but I am sure someone appreciates it.
