Editorial Reviews
Review
Within the first two pages of A Person Of Interest, I felt my heart racing, in empathy with the main character, Samantha Bowers! I was hooked. Ardelle Holden manages to create suspense while providing a realistic peek into how investigators work. The integration of digital technologies and social media brings a very contemporary feel to A Person of Interest.

About the author

Ardelle Holden is the author of the Samantha Bowers Mysteries: A Person of Interest, Murder by Bits and Bytes, and Murder by Pins and Needles. Killing Imaginary Friends is the first in the Oliver Frampton Mystery series.
Look for Ardelle’s first children’s picture book: Terrance the Terrapin, The Turtle who wanted to be a Seeing-Eye Turtle later in 2025.
An historical fiction series is percolating following a Genealogical Quest to Scotland and England in September 2024.
Ardelle and Patrick’s adventures raising two children together in aviation, mining exploration, and in the wild rice lakes of northern Manitoba are ripe fodder for a myriad of short stories.
Besides writing, Ardelle is pursuing her other artistic passions in Nanaimo BC, and Ajijic Mexico.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2026Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAfter the first few pages I just gave up on doing anything productive the rest of the day. So definitely have your work done before you start this book. I can't remember when I've liked any characters better than Samantha and Ben. This story is so captivating: sweet romance with a nail-biting mystery. I went on to read the other two in the series
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed the characters and the mystery itself, which was pretty well crafted. The one issue I had was about the speed with which the romance came about. Just so not realistic to implicitly trust a total stranger when you've just been chased down an alley and onto a bus. Not realistic (and, frankly, pretty unbelievably stupid) to let him take you home to his house while absolutely NO ONE knows where you are. I'm really not a fan of putting a protagonist in situations that defy common sense or promote victimhood.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2020Format: KindleVerified Purchasefound the story very boring, supposed to be a mystery but not a page turner.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis book kept you on your toes until the end. Loved the romantic thread throughout. Lots of action and suspense. Loved the happy ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2018I enjoyed the characters and the pace if the story. I highly recommend this book!! It was nice having it set in Vancouver.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseIt sounded promising but I figured out what was going on at almost every step and it was just so unbelievable and unrealistic for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI struggled to get through this one and finally gave it up.

TrevorReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 10, 20211.0 out of 5 stars Not the story I expected
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI downloaded this in Kindle version whilst on holiday, based on the write up. It was not not what I expected at all. The plotline was transparent to the point that it was predictable. While there was a lot of (basically inconsequential) detail about detectives drinking coffee etc., the book pretty much descended into a romantic novel. So it was a bit thin on interest and I've have been better spending my money on something else.
Judy 55Reviewed in Australia on January 27, 20225.0 out of 5 stars very entertaining.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseGood plot, and a few unexpected twists and turns. An easy read, just what I wanted. Well done Ms Holden.
Caroline RaymondReviewed in Canada on June 27, 20255.0 out of 5 stars You will not want to put this down!
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI haven’t read the whole book and this is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I love it. Will be looking for more books by her.
Ted UrenReviewed in Canada on April 11, 20245.0 out of 5 stars A really enjoyable murder / romance mystery novel.
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe author very quickly engages the reader with her very relatable characters. Within the first chapter, the novel takes a most unexpected plot twist, and
maintains the readers interest, chapter after chapter. Ms Holden doesn’t write all fancy - She writes for us regular folk which makes this book a very enjoyable read. She has a great imagination and builds the characters to a point where it feels as if you are in their shoes and experiencing every emotion they experience. An added bonus is for a British Columbia resident, is the settings for the novel are for the most part very familiar. Would heartily recommend this mystery as one that engages you from start to finish.
JacquiReviewed in Canada on June 6, 20205.0 out of 5 stars Well-written
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe story had a wonderful premise and the excitement continued throughout. It was a mystery / romance and the characters were believable.
