Hysterectomy at 29: How it changed my life: A Woman's Perspective Kindle Edition
Decisions, decisions, we are surrounded by them. Life is full of complications, and at times what we are contemplating can be life altering. I changed not only my life, but my entire outlook on family, work, and how I view myself. Somehow I found the strength within to decide what avenue was best for me.
Review:
When I was first asked to read this book in return for an honest review, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Unless it’s regarding something historic or demonology I don’t read non-fiction work.
However, I did find this short read rather fascinating. I also have a lot of respect for the author. If anyone is contemplating having this procedure, or knows someone who is, I highly recommend you read this book. Candy does not speak at you like a medical professional. She speaks to you like a human being. Everything you will experience, she has experienced herself. She understands your needs, wants, concerns and fears.
I think Candy has done a great job in putting her thoughts and feelings into this book. It is also very brave of her to share this with others so openly.
Huge amounts of respect to this author.

About the Author
At the age of twelve, she wrote her first mini book. Filled mostly with what took place with her mother and her long tedious bout with leukemia. It was a short story told as extra credit when she suffered a sprained ankle and had to be out of school for over two months. School officials refused to believe a word of what she had written until her grandmother, her guardian back then, entered the school with the truth. Everything she had written down was exactly what took place. Unfortunately her mother succumbed to the disease.
She earned a Bachelor's degree in History and Culture. After living with her aunt and uncle for over five years she wished to explore her uncle's Native heritage and did so with vigor. She also has 6 Grad units in Criminal Justice.

About the author

I have recently changed course with my writing. My upcoming titles will be positive works with positive characters centering around my Christian beliefs. Everything else I have written before these new titles was who I used to be.
I hope my future books will not only encourage, but leave you with something extraordinary!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2023Format: AudiobookI was hoping to learn more about the recovery process after the hysterectomy. What to expect, etc. This book did not cover the topics I was interested in. This book is mostly about how she felt mentally before and after the surgery.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2014Format: KindleAs a woman who experienced a very similar situation (at the age of 26) I was honored to be asked to review this book. The subject matter is extremely personal and I commend the author for delving into such a sensitive topic. Ms. O'Donnell opened up her heart and released her inner thoughts and feelings as she walks the reader through the experience. Hard choices and painful decisions, the reaction of her spouse and family are all part of the story.
The thing that hit me the hardest while reading this book is Ms. O'Donnell's raw honesty. She tells it like it is, and reminds all of us, men and women alike, that a woman is not defined by her ability to carry a child, but rather, by her soul.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2014Format: KindleI want to thank author Candy O'Donnell for being brave to share to the world what she had been through. I’ve known Candy for few years and I would have never guessed what she had been through. Candy not only shares her life altering experiences, she has helped me understand reasons why women have hysterectomy. For women who want to know more about hysterectomy or have been through their own struggles, this book is for you. No one is ever alone. People have similar struggles. But it’s comforting to know that there are people out there that understand. And that was Candy’s goal to write this novella, to help those who needed to know that they are not alone. Thank you Candy for sharing your personal experience!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2014Format: KindleLike a wise and trusted friend, Ms. O'Donnell bravely shares her very personal story of facing a hysterectomy at such a young age. While I personally have not faced such a harrowing reality (or decision) yet, I am comforted knowing that if the time comes I am not alone, and I will not consider myself "less" of a woman if this is something I must face. This inspiring book also celebrates the power of love and family, as Ms. O'Donnell describes the unrelenting support of her husband and children. A beautiful reminder that love is a blessing for which there could never be a price.

More women need to read this... the candor / bluntness / truth as well as the loving way Ms. O'Donnell expresses herself.... though ive never gone thru this myself i have known a few that went thru this and could have benefited from these words of courage and wisdom. !!!
